WOW, so..it's come to my attention that the current picture style setting on my slr is producing a jpeg preview (the back of the lcd on the camera) that is "overexposed" by about half a stop. When comparing it to the RAW file, I realized, I have been losing about half a stop of detail and some tonality. In order to actually get the RAW file to clip data in the highlights when viewed on my computer I had to overexpose by 1 and 2/3 of a stop. First handed, i don't trust lcd's anymore! THIS is why I intend on continuing to shoot tethered.
ive been aware of it for a while but i had no idea that i could push my camera about half a stop more to pickup more shadows without blowing out the highlights. this is mainly why i plan on continuing to shoot tethered. i had a model test yesterday. cant wait to show you
