Greetings everyone! Looking for an internship? Job? Want to hear some awesome tech talks? The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) at the University of Central Florida is hosting our annual technical conference on February 20th, 2015 from 9am to 3pm. This technical conference will be dedicated to enhancing the collaboration between UCF students, faculty in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology fields, and companies interested in computing. Companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, and many more will be there!

Here is the proposed schedule:

8-9: Breakfast and Company Registration
9-10: Welcome/ Employee and Faculty Panel
10-12: Company Showcase
12-1: Lunch Break
1-1:45: Tech Talk Session 1
2-2:45: Tech Talk Session 2

We will be providing free pizza to every student that RSVPs here:
Dress code is casual.

Feel free to come and go as you please, and get ready to network and learn a lot. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you!

ACM@UCF will be hosting a resume and interview workshop on Thursday, November 6 at 6:00pm in NSC 110. We will be critiquing resumes, performing practice interviews, and we will have practice problems for you to solve. If your in the midst of an internship hunt, or just want to see what to expect, join us this Thursday.
Be sure to bring your resumes!

Distinguished app developer Ari Spring will be speaking about the challenges he faced will developing the Red Alert app. This application was developed during a time of war, in 48 hours, and with no sleep.
The Red Alert App is an application that pushes out alerts in real time whenever missiles are fired into Israel.  The application has been downloaded over a million times and has been featured in the New York Times and on CNN.
Ari Sprung is a senior software developer at Curiyo, a platform that increases traffic and monetization for online publishers. Sprung teaches an Android development course at Hebrew University, training the next generation of mobile developers.

ACM be having a game night this Thursday, October 30 at 6:00PM in NSC 110. We'll be having several different board and card games to enjoy with your fellow ACM members so come on out and have some fun.

ACM will be hosting Professor Hughes on Thursday, October 23 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in NSC 110.
He will be speaking about his research in "Avatar-Mediated Interactions: Virtual Characters and Physical Robots as Human Surrogates." If you'd like to know more about this interesting topic, join us this Thursday!

ACM will be hosting an internship panel on Thursday, October 2, at 6:00pm in NSC 110. Come out and hear what your fellow interns have experienced in their internships. Our panel will include multiple interns from different companies and if you have any questions about the interview process, this is the place to be.

ACM will be hosting ROI Revolution on Thursday, September 25, at 6:00pm in NSC 110. We will be having pizza at this event.
ROI will be coming to demonstrate how to code up a Ruby on Rails app from scratch. They will give a general overview of the language followed by:
• Creating a new project
• Keeping it under version control
• Scaffolds
• Using the console
• Basic style with Bootstrap
• Sites using bootstrap
If your interested in what Ruby has to offer, come join us at our next general meeting!
