I was thinking about this comic, https://xkcd.com/435/ and how tech companies say "hiring is really hard". Maybe google has a fantastic qualitative analysis course that engineers are required to pass before giving interviews, but i haven't read about it.

It's just funny that the people most able to answer questions like "would this person be a good fit in this environment?" are pretty widely mocked.

U.S. embassy in Havana? Thanks Obama.

(it's hard to get the ironic snark "thanks Obama" tone of voice in 6 words)

I keep trying to think of something to say, other than this makes me very sad. The findings are tough to read, the details are worse.
"Majid Klian engaged in acts of self-harm that included attempting
to cut his wrist on two occasions, an attempt to chew into his arm at the inner elbow, ..." (p.115)
I don't think a guy trying kill himself by chewing off his arm is going to provide much information.

Emacs is kind of amazing. el-get "just works" for so much stuff. For Java I'm all about the semantic editors - eclipse, intellij, netbeans, for all the random languages i play with, textual is just a huge win.

This would make me insane. I can't tell the difference.

MT: Replace a semicolon (;) with a greek question mark (;) in your friend's C# code and watch them pull their hair out over the syntax error.

Incomplete and mostly wrong history of programming languages.

"1957 - John Backus and IBM create FORTRAN. There's nothing funny about IBM or FORTRAN. It is a syntax error to write FORTRAN while not wearing a blue tie."
