18 people in tech media, after seeing thousands of new products pass their eyes this year, share what they ended up buying for themselves.
My job involves playing with, analyzing, and writing about technology, all day every day. In the lab where I work, we see more than 2,000 products a year. We have an entire aisle of HDTVs, another one for new laptop computers...

Hey, folks:  PCMag needs help assessing broadband speeds all over the United States so we can discover the fastest ISP in America.  Could you please run this speed test?  It takes a minute at most, and you'll be helping out not only us--but also your fellow Internet users!  Thanks!  (Oh, and if, in turn, you wanted to share it with the people in YOUR circles, that would be terrific, too.)

Perhaps this was a clever ploy to kill off the stupid "unboxing!" meme.

No wonder you don't get much action on your posts if your latest public post is back in January :)
You can always post links to your articles just to keep from looking like an abandoned page.

I've wondered about this problem for years.  I'm interested to see how the future addresses it.
Visitors to Microsoft in Redmond, Wash., can avail themselves of free shuttle cars to help them make their way about the sprawling suburban campus. The cars are clean and quiet and always appear within minutes of being summoned, and the drivers always know where they are going. Or almost always:...

A while back I wrote a bumper for Dragon*Con in part to promote the EFF track at the convention. It contained the following:

27abc85fc5686816be4b90edd83a5f3405ad9cd9050b8b93608f04654970efe0ac68691ba85df5f43a6754d4b76c9ead4c8cdbab41611729472fe9f55d35013596da31df66ba1f3ff630ec34c429c5c4fdbd079ce83ffb659e60fd16206366f0e991f8d9ab05c842c72ee28cc6cca4ddbb11ed5dd55c4324153e49fc04e411b423977bd32213eb0f8f9a7821c2d59410e0b91e8d265c472d4b8062e99dc875b843e98c169102ebdaaa36f261e66510f2ed81f43d78cad2a5cfd691f92f743b20dd504960ecb08fc177444e463fb3267567761dbca20aefeb1922c4539252f137

followed by

43 50 41 4e 20 43 72 79 70 74 5f 58 58 54 45 41

I got an email asking why I was making fun of the EFF track with gibberish like that.

Note: the above is not gibberish.

Facebook may have just had its multibillion-dollar IPO, but in terms of usability and features, it can't compare to Google+.

Furthermore, Google are not soul-suckingly evil, even though they too consort with Zynga.
