I have not read all the comments but when cooking pasta (dry) get your salted water bowling, then add the pasta, cook 7-10 minutes or until al dente. (firm to bite) If using fresh pasta, it will only take 3-4 minutes in bowling water. Once the pasta, is done, drain the water and if using seperate from the sauce, salt and pepper, (season) add a little olive oil, and mix gently. (this will keep the pasta from sticking.) I think you did this but use a little of your pasta water in making your sauce.
