It's very hard to plan for the unknowns. Are you asking "why" or "how" questions. A very thoughtful read.

"We believe that the major reason novelty and feasibility are thought to be at odds is that new ideas involve more unknowns."

What possible argument is there for believing otherwise? None that I can think of.  Let's fix copyright.

"Creative Commons believes that resources that are paid for with public funds should be shared under open licenses."

This is going to be so fun, and I am super excited to share a really cool opportunity that is available from Michigan State University.  MSU will be offering a free Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) on the FIFA World Cup.  The course begins on June 23 and will run during the World Cup.  It will explore the history, culture, politics and overall structure of the World Cup.  While you’re taking in the great soccer matches how about signing up for the course and learning about mega-events like the World Cup.
There is no cost for the course and registration is free.  Please consider signing up or feel free to share with friends, family and colleagues who you think may have an interest.   You can register today at:

If you have any questions please let me know.

This year's College World Series Inkling Market is live. It's fun... it's free! Join us. (I'm just a tad sad that the Beavers won't be making an appearance.)

Lots of blower pow today. Incredible considering it's so late in the season.

I've had more days like this this year than I can count. Love pow! (Granted the sun was rarely shining.)

Great read about the need/value for cognitive diversity in problem solving. When everyone is cut from the same cloth it is nearly impossible to get breakthrough thinking.

"the probability of solving tough scientific challenges is three times higher if a person’s field of expertise is seven degrees outside the domain of the problem."

"eating a diet rich in animal proteins during middle age makes you four times more likely to die of cancer than someone with a low-protein diet — a mortality risk factor comparable to smoking."

Meat and cheese may be as bad for you as smoking

Cool project.

"More than 80% of the projects have been successful in helping farmers reinvigorate their farms. These farmers are at the forefront of agricultural innovation in production, marketing, and cooperative enterprises. Their hard work deserves to be documented both online and in a book.”
