I just saw 3 wedge-tailed eagles riding the thermals over the car park where I work in Symonston ACT. They were getting height on the hot rising air. I think they were at about 30 meters when I first saw them circling. One of them must have been a youngster because I could hear one of them calling. They circled their way up to a tremendous height where they appeared like small birds, however when I first saw them I was taken aback by their size. I could literally have counted the long finger like feathers on the ends of their wings.

When they reached their ultimate height they shot like arrows in a straight line heading south west in a perfect glide.

Seeing them made my day.

A photo of my eldest. Now 19. Taken between snacks. I suspect he is thinking about his next meal. I am sure he is eating for Australia.

One of the first photos printed in the dark cupboard. The back of the house. Haven't gone too far yet ;)

This Ent wife is protecting my studio. She doesn't like her photo being taken hence the pursed lips. She doesn't like possums either and occasionally drops one on the ground.

I have built myself a #dkrm. Well its more of a dark cupboard rather than a darkroom however I can do what I need to do. It took a while, as my building projects seem to do. So. Claiming back my life, as now the eldest has finished school and the youngest has one year to go. It's been 15 years or so since I last had a darkroom and the time to practice B&W photography. The last 4 to 5 months have been about planning, acquiring and building. Now it's complete.

I erected it inside the shed to avoid having to water proof everything. Light proofing it turned out to be difficult enough but job done. I hope to post some scanned images soon.

Gotta love a blue stamp. Though I think the engraver was more comfortable with boats than kings. KG VI looks a little dropsy.

As a child growing up in rural New South Wales stamps were one of my windows on the world. Once a year, on holidays, I got to see the ocean. I loved seeing it's broad expanse as a sudden vista when we crested a hill, knowing that two weeks of salty surf tumbled joy were to follow. However on a stamp I could visit exotic foreign shores whenever I opened my album, filling in the colour and the adventure with my imagination.
