It's also worth mentioning that if you have your cloud folders like dropbox synced to your mac, then they are still stored on your hard drive.

Sorry for the stupid question but I have to ask...I would like to take all the music (The Wiggles) the kids have grown out of iTunes...Is there an easy way or method for doing this without leaving an iCloud trail back to download?

Thanks Joost, Jared and Juan. I guess it's a good thing that they make it so hard to eliminate tunes.

You are right Lutz...my mistake. I got it (8.1)downloaded only after I gave up on the iTunes download. I had no problems with the iCloud download.
It makes no sense but as long as it works...

Thanks to all of you for lending your support and recommendations on my transferring Pixar DVD to my iMac. Handbrake and film tag worked flawlessly. Just a couple of more uploads...

Next question ( I believe we will have a 50/50 spit when it comes to +David Sparks. And +Katie Floyd) should I transfer Star Wars or Star Trek?

It's about time. On MPU, +David Sparks admits Snell & Hurley pushed him into buying Retina Mac.
You have been doing the same to me for years. Finally, what comes around...

#iOS8 works great! 1 problem with "Hey Siri" if your phone or pad is locked you still have to input password.

Imagine if hey siri worked when not connected to power — walking into a lecture theatre and saying "Hey Siri read my latest text message" would never get old. lol

Okay guys need your help. After four years I convinced management to let me have a MacBook air going from the PC. What should I get i5 or i7? Or stay with i5 and get 8 GB of memory?
I'll be using the MBA for the usual office stuff, lots of social media and done video.

if money is a problem, always choose memory over processor. If not, take both.

nails it!

I’m reminded of a Tolstoy quote: “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

What I want people to take back is to realize that they can’t sit and wait for someone to show them the path forward. This is a time where the people in that room in San Francisco and the people reading this now have to realize that change happens because of them—because of what they’re going to do to change the future right now.
Social Media 20/20 Summit keynote speaker Brian Solis says that PR pros and marketers need to become "experience architects" and not be bound by their previous roles.

In Star Wars, Death Star controls are all buttons and levers. In Star Trek (TNG) all the controls are on touch pad displays. So could one say that Star Wars is more like Microsoft and Star Trek is more like Apple?

I think I would say that (original) Star Wars is more like Linux or the open-source movement, because everything was made out of pre-existing bits and pieces hacked together. The superlaser was fired by a TV video switcher, and all the ships were made out of cannibalized model kits and things.

I'm not sure how the analogy holds up into the modern era though.  Maybe they ARE like Microsoft, getting their start by selling you things that were once freely available, then becoming enormous businesses overrun with needless CG effects and nobody to tell them they'd run away with some lousy ideas.

The latter-day Enterprise though, Apple (store) all the way!

It's time to transfer son's Pixar DVD collection to iTunes. I'm running a 2008 iMac with Mavericks ...any software solutions you can recommend?

RipIt! 1.2.6 was the last version I had that worked on the SuperDrive. I haven't tried VLC in a long time though because it has never worked for me. And now I don't need to. :-)
