Only a week away!!  There are still spots available..share with your family and friends!!  :)

Attention IT&CS Majors!
If you're in the process of completing a degree program, you will eventually be enrolling in our IT&CS Capstone course.  In this course you will be creating an e-Portfolio and populating it with projects from your other IT&CS classes.  So, make sure you're saving major project requirements/documentation/deliverables.  To that end, stop by our department offices to pick up your Free 8GB USB Drive!  This drive is only available to IT&CS majors (one drive per student).  You'll need to see one of the IT&CS faculty to get this fantastic gift!   :)

The IT&CS faculty want an opportunity to meet their online students!  Next week, we'll be hosting our first "Meet Your Online Instructor" event.  During this event you'll not only get an opportunity to meet your online instructor, but we'll also provide a brief overview of the course and what to expect during the semester.  Below is a table listing Dates/Times/Rooms/Instructors and Courses.  If you're enrolled in the classes listed, you should expect to receive an email with specifics some time this week.  Please plan on attending...we're looking forward to meeting everyone!

Not a bad deal for Office 365...combine this with the Office app for the iPad and now you've got something!

The IT&CS department is now offering 4 new certificates for all Lakeland students!  Computer User, IT Foundations, IT Specialist, and IT Professional.  Contact Nick DiTirro (, Sue Baker (, or Perry Tonni ( for more information.  You may already have earned one or more of these certificates!

At a great conference. Follow along on FB - only because we can't type the same thing multiple times and still keep up.

Important News from IT&CS:

In this day and age, it is imperative that all students have a degree of proficiency in Information Technology (IT). This proficiency will provide the student with experience that will be invaluable in acquiring employment as well as functioning at a high level once employment has been gained. Whether you’re working towards an Information Technologies & Computer Science (IT&CS) degree program or simply updating your skills, you now have the ability to complete a certificate with the courses that best meet your needs.

The Information Technology & Computer Science (IT&CS) department now has four new credit certificates.  These certificates were designed to help students gain important technological skills that are vital for everyone.

The Computer User Certificate is of special interest for non-IT majors to provide students with the basic technology skills required for employment in a variety of careers.  This certificate can be very useful for students who are working towards or already have a degree in a non-computer related subject or need computer training for a current job.  It can even be applied towards an IT&CS computer degree/concentration.

The other new certificates are designed to allow students to select various combinations of IT&CS courses (as well as some General Education courses for the IT Professional Certificate) and receive recognition for their achievements after they complete 4 (IT Foundations Certificate), 15 (IT Specialist Certificate), and 30 (IT Professional Certificate) credits of course work at Lakeland.  Whether you’re working towards an IT&CS degree program or simply updating your skills you now have the ability to complete a certificate with the courses that best meet your needs.

Any of the certificates can be earned by any Lakeland Community College student no matter what program or degree they are seeking.  These certificates will help build your IT skillsets and enhance your resume/portfolio.
