03/24/15 - Has the allure of vitamins as an emblem of health affected common sense about diet? What about supplements?  Many on store shelves don’t even contain what’s listed on the label.  Should everyone take a multi-vitamin, just to play it safe? We’ll learn more from journalist Catherine Price.  She’s written VITAMANIA:  Our Obsessive Quest for Nutritional Perfection. That’s Topical Currents, Tuesday at 1pm.

01/13/15 - Today on Topical Currents we feature CNBC Wall Street correspondent Kate Kelly, who’ll discuss the realm of financial commodity traders.  Those who survive in the cut-throat environment of commodities tend to be smart, aggressive and egomaniacal individuals.  They often flaunt their wealth and operate on gut instinct. Kate Kelly has written, The Secret Club That Runs The World:  Inside The Fraternity Of Commodity Traders. Most shun the media.  They aren’t like Warren Buffet or George Soros. When markets expand—such as the growth of India and China—so do prices for raw materials.  Commodity traders are in the thick of this. Tuesday at 1pm on Topical Currents. AUDIO on demand after the live broadcast at: http://wlrn.org/post/secret-club-runs-world-inside-fraternity-commodity-traders
