Over the past few months, we've been listening to your feedback and exploring opportunities to continue to engage, empower and grow students in the digital marketing space. Today, we are excited to announce that the foundation of the Online Marketing Challenge will be returning in partnership with nonprofits from the Google Ad Grants program!

Ad Grants empowers over 38,000 nonprofit organizations with free in-kind AdWords advertising of up to $10,000 a month. The new Online Marketing Challenge (OMC) will pair student teams with Ad Grants’ nonprofit organizations for students to gain valuable real-world skills through working with nonprofits’ AdWords accounts and drive real social impact. OMC is a great way to increase your depth of experience on your resume and develop your skill set, all while helping nonprofits change the world!

Registrations will open in June 2018 and will be open on an ongoing basis. Check out the official OMC website for more details on the new program and email us at onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any questions. #OMC

We hope everyone's new year is off to a great start! It's always fun looking back on the inspiring moments of 2017, and one we'll never forget is hosting the 2017 Middle East & Africa GOMC winners at the Google Dublin office. This talented group of students from Kenyatta University worked with the Garden of Hope Foundation to help restore hope through providing mentorship, leadership, and youth empowerment. We had a blast hosting the 2017 Americas GOMC winners at the Google Headquarters in Mountain View on Friday! This group of MBA students led by +Theresa B. Clarke from James Madison University created online advertising campaigns to help their nonprofit client, Cradles to Crayons, drive more donations of new and like-new goods for children who are from low-income families, impoverished, homeless, or otherwise in need. We love to hear about GOMC students supporting such impactful causes. Congratulations on your outstanding achievements! #GoogleStudents

It's the moment we've all been waiting for . . . the 2017 Google Online Marketing Challenge results are in!

This year we introduced a new AdWords Certification award and algorithm evaluating performance across more campaign types, delivering some of the most impressive work seen in the history of GOMC. You all should be very proud of your accomplishments.

More than 120,000 students and professors across almost 100 countries have participated in the Google Online Marketing Challenge, helping over 15,000 businesses and nonprofits grow online. We are proud to celebrate 10 years of great impact, but as digital evolves, so do our programs. It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be hosting the annual Google Online Marketing Challenge as we know it.

While there will be no upcoming competition for the 2017-18 academic year, Google remains committed to providing students with opportunities for practical skill development and will continue to support student development through our free digital skills trainings and certification programs. Please see our FAQs page for more details: https://goo.gl/2yFC6E.

A big thank you to all of the professors who have supported GOMC over the past 10 years! The hands-on learning you’ve fostered has helped students gain practical skills and professional experience, preparing them for successful careers in this digital world. And thank you to the ambitious students who have partnered with businesses and nonprofits in their communities to share their expertise and help them thrive online. Your stories are inspiring!

We are always exploring new ways to engage, empower and grow students, so check out the GOMC website to learn how you can share your feedback to help us continue to provide useful student development programs. Also, see the GOMC website for more information about this announcement, how you can continue to engage in project work similar to GOMC and how to sign up to receive future communication about other university programs, Google student development opportunities and digital marketing education resources: https://goo.gl/2yFC6E.

Thank you all for your support and keep an eye out for the 2017 GOMC results announcement coming soon!
