Meteorologist for WYFF News 4
Introduction
Pamela Wright joined WYFF 4 in July 2013 as meteorologist on the weekend version of WYFF News 4 Today. Originally from Charleston, SC, Pamela says her career in news and fascination with weather began in 1989 - shortly after Hurricane Hugo roared through her hometown. An English major at the College of Charleston, Pamela earned her degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin and Mississippi State University. But she says it was her nearly twenty years of broadcasting, in climates ranging from the tropics to the 'frozen tundra’, however, that taught her the most!

During Pamela's 18 year career, she worked as a reporter, producer, talk show host and weather anchor at WCSC in Charleston, WLUK in Green Bay, WI, WSVN in Miami, and for the CBS network owned and operated stations in Miami and Los Angeles. She earned the National Weather Association's Seal of Approval for the quality of her weather broadcasts in 1996 and was also awarded the Mark Twain award for Best Weather Segment from the Associated Press.

In 2007, Pamela decided to step away from the 'green screen' for a while to focus on raising her children and fulfilling a long-held entrepreneurial dream. She and her husband bought a cafe in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC and headed for the hills! She says the more relaxed lifestyle, the creative energy and the beauty of the Upstate and Mountains drew them to the area. Her husband, Trip, now runs the café and their kids just run constantly. Pamela is excited to be forecasting again , especially with the WYFF 4 weather team she has watched and respected for years. Pamela's other interests include hiking, writing, volunteering, American Sign Language, cooking (the healthier & spicier the better), and Green Bay Packer football.
