nDalem is a terminology used to address the mansion where a prince or princess lives.
This particular nDalem was built in 1855 during the rule of Sri Sultan HB VI
We will find a number of buildings on the compound, namely the Regol, the Kuncung, the Pendopo, the Pringgitan and the Rumah Induk or the main building.
To support the “Visit Indonesia Year 2008 - 2009” the royal family took the initiative to participate in the program by opening the nDalem KANEMAN for tourism activities.
Art performances such as the Beksan Topeng or mask dance or the classical dances taken from the Ramayana and Mahabarata episodes, traditional costume and “leather puppets show” or the wayang kulit can be enjoyed while dining at the traditional Javanese “rijstafel” style where the excellent typical royal dishes are served.
nDalem Kaneman also provides functions such as wedding ceremonies and receptions which demonstrate the custom and tradition of the Keraton of Yogyakarta, in the same time exhibits art collection of high historical value.
