I didn't try this yet but looks interesting. Not sure which epub versions are supported.

(one reason i don't post on g+ any more is i get white text on a white background, thank you firefox for the inspector so i can change it)
Lector is a new open source qt based ebook reader in the world of Linux market. It almost supports all the formats including EPUB, MOBI, and AZW. Comic book lover, don’t get upset, it also supports comic book files as CBZ and CBR format. #UbuntuPIT

People from US or Canada in particular might like this dashcam video of driving along the main road in the Isle of Skye in Scotland, UK. :-) For those of us (from any country) who have been there, it's also a fun reminder. There are several videos in the series and some feature sheep.
I bought a dash cam before my trip to Isle of Skye last week. Here's one of the videos. It shows the road from Portree to Old Man of Storr.
Feel free to subscribe to the channel if you like videos like that ;-)

An interesting aspect of clear-cut logging followed by patchy regrowth turns out to be a change in the balance of wildlife the forest can support. This favours mice over foxes, hawks and owls (that eat the mice). In the North East of the US (and probably much of South-East Canada) this has set up conditions for the spread of deer ticks, which gleefully (one supposes) feast on mice as a major carrier.

http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2017/03/06/518219485/forbidding-forecast-for-lyme-disease-in-the-northeast has a note on this towards the end of the article.

A step forward for colour management in the libre world, perhaps.
The sK1 team published Python bindings for LittleCMS v2. Your Python apps can do color management now.

+Patrick David has put a lot of work into his +pixls.us community and into GIMP and other open source and libre software so it's a lot of fun to see his fabulous tutorial getting more.. er... exposure.
The GIMP-focused Open Source Portrait tutorial by +Patrick David was recently featured in The Royal Photographic Society Journal, one of the oldest photography magazines in the world (est. 1853).

There's no greater virtue than compassion, but perhaps at times none harder.
I consider we are all the same as human beings, mentally, emotionally and physically. In order to ensure a more peaceful world and a healthier environment we sometimes point a finger at others saying they should do this or that. But change must start with us as individuals. If one individual becomes more compassionate it will influence others and so we will change the world.

Love the outtake at the end too. Wonder if David Cameron has outtakes?
