Nice article. I think a point that is not sufficiently stressed when discussing evolution is that every feature has a cost and ressources for building a body are limited. So it really makes sense that species get away with poor mimicry, or losing the sense of sight in other environments: less ressources "spent" on a feature means more ressources for other useful features.
