Something cool to check out!
In the final years of World War II, an elite group of cultural professionals—museum directors, art historians, conservators and others—led an effort to save some of the world’s most cherished art works from Nazi destruction. In the years that followed, the Monuments Men tirelessly hunted down lost treasures and shepherded them back to their rightful owners. The subject of a new feature film directed by George Clooney, “The Monuments Men’’ tells a timeless story of the people whose heroism and selflessness prevented a worldwide cultural catastrophe.

On February 7 at 12 p.m. (PST) join the +Legion of Honor Museum  and the Google Art Project for an Art Talk about the true stories of the Monuments Men. Watch presentations by representatives from the Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; University of California, Berkeley; Archives of American Art; The Frick Reference Library; and the American institute for Conservation Oral History Project—all institutions whose directors, curators, and conservators spearheaded this noble endeavor. #monumentsmen #arttalks
