For anyone who may have dived with us at the Socorro Islands last year, during the 2015/2016 season, you may recall some great giant manta interaction but not necessarily the sharkiest of diving. El Niño was at its peak and water temps were unusually warm. This season the La Niña phase of the weather/current pattern has taken over and this has equated to water temps of several degrees cooler than this time last year (24-25C last year compared to 21-22C this year). What does this mean? Sharks, lots and lots of sharks! Roca Partida in particular has been incredible. Schooling hammerheads, galapagos, silver-tips and silkies in numbers that we haven't seen in years. Rather experience our famous giant manta lovin'? Just turn your head or look up. 3-4 individuals on most dives at a couple of our dive sites with a great chance to see them anywhere we dive here. Right now is one of the best times to come dive with us if you want the best of both sharks and manta love. If you're worried about the cooler water, it's worth it, and the hot tub on the top deck will get the chills out quickly.

I have been diving for many years and many places around the world, but the diving here has something special I have never felt anywhere else. The first 3 days of diving we were alone on the dive sites, having them to ourselves and our guests, surrounded by giant mantas, silver tip sharks, giant tunas and hammerhead sharks. A group even saw a Tiger shark in the dive site called Cabo Pearce! It is an incredible feeling to be the only divers in the very remote places with so much sea life around us. Today was our 4th day diving, we are anchored at Roca partida. All day long, our divers have found Manta rays, schooling hammerhead sharks, schools of jackfish and tunas hunting on the sardines. Every dive is an opportunity to measure how rich the sealife in the pacific is. This is a great start to our season, and everybody was smiling.

And yet ends another amazing trip in Guadalupe. I had a great time. Afetr diving for so long I have come to the point where I get my satisfaction from sharing moments like these with people that begin as complete strangers and end up becoming friends. Don’t get me wrong the sharks are cool as and blow my mind every time im lucky enough to see them but my true joy comes from time spent with the guests and watching all the happy faces after they tell us they just had one of the best days of their lives!

Two days of wicked action so far on our current expedition.
Yesterday from the surface cage I counted 6 individual sharks at once, including Joker, Rhett and Stella who have been some of our superstars this season. Joker was named for Specialist Anthony Wilder who was a member of the United States Army and died during a hazing incident several years ago. Anthony's mother, who named the shark, will be happy to hear that Joker is growing fast and strong and is one of the smartest sharks when it comes to sneaking up on the wrangling bait.
Visibility the last couple days has been spectacular, 150ft plus of beautiful blue water. Water temp has been 20C.
