A NEW FACILITY - THE KIDS CORNER!

It is possible to attend this course and bring your child along with you. We have arranged an adult supervision for the kids while you take the class.

Kid's Corner is suitable for children circa 3-10 years old. Children need to be able to communicate in English and participate in the activities available; drawing (materials provided), making puzzles and listening to stories, or reading themselves if they already can. Kids are supervised in the same space where the teaching takes place. It is the parents responsibility to advise their children to stay with the allocated space and participate in the activities available. Personal toys and activities can be brought along as well. Any child running about (or crying) will need to be attended by their parent. Also should they need to use the toilet during the hour, parents will need to take them there.

Price; £2.50/child/session. Places for this facility are limited and they have to be booked in advance. Those booking all 5 sessions are given priority over those booking individual dates.

Smaller children and babies
It is possible to take along also smaller children and babies without any charge. Nevertheless it is the parent's responsibility that their children do not crawl or run about in the space. Babies sleeping/sitting in a bouncy chair are fine, in case of crying you would need to attend your child and take him/her to the foyer to calm down. Please, let us know if you are planning to attend with a younger child.

Older children
Older children are also welcome to come along if they want to sit and entertain themselves. If they don't participate in the Kid's Corner activities they can be brought along without any charge. Please, let us know if you are planning to attend with an older child.

8-8.45 Talk and demo by Sari & Jeff
8.45-11pm Social dancing (Milonga)

Pre-booking your places for the Beginner session is advisable by contacting sari_lievonen@hotmail.com

Tonight El Abrazo Milonga will host a taster class of Argentine Tango for total beginners from 7-8pm. Come and discover the simple secrets of this passionate dance. To dance socially we have to create the Tango connection. Thereafter we can communicate with our partners in this beautiful movement language. We walk in unison to interpret the music and will enjoy the first steps of our tango journey. Please wear comfy clothes and ideally leather/suede soled shoes (to allow pivoting). For followers little bit of heel is better than no heel, while for leaders ordinary low heel is fine.

The class is followed by a 45-minute long talk and presentation that reveals historical facts and cultural details explaining how this wonderful music and dance has come to be enjoyed globally in the 21st century. The presentation by Glasgow Tango Studio’s co-founders, dance professionals Sari Lievonen and Jeff Allan, is suitable for non-dancers as well as those already having begun their tango journey.

After the talk at 8.45pm, the evening will continue with over two hours of social dancing in the Milonga with music from Tango DJ Jeff Allan.

The Big Glasgow Tango Practica

Every Saturday 2.00 - 5.00pm
Entry £4 this includes tea filter coffee etc.

The Glasgow Practica was started by Sari Lievonen and Jeff  Allan in 2005. It is an informal event where anyone can practice and dance socially, regardless of their level of experience. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on simple technical problems in a friendly environment. If you are keen to enhance your Tango skills, you
can book a private session with Sari or Jeff for more intensive work.
Between dances you can enjoy complimentary refreshments and socialise with other participants - an important aspect of our ethos. Regular attendance at the Practica is the best way to become a confident dancer with accomplished floor-craft. The music here is played in tandas (consecutive dances in the same style) but without linking cortinas. You can enjoy all three forms of the Social Argentine Tango during our Practica: Tango, Milonga and Tango Vals.

Taster Class in Argentine Tango
Talk on the history of Tango
Social Dancing

Friday 20th June
Starting 7.30pm

Tonight’s El Abrazo Tango Club hosts a taster class of Argentine Tango for total beginners, followed by a talk which reveals some historical facts and lesser-known cultural details to demonstrate how this wonderful music and dance has come to be enjoyed globally in the 21st century.
