"Time is giving its celeb and entertainment-filled streaming service a new name. Launched last year as the blandly and cumbersome “People/Entertainment Weekly Network,” the newly rebranded service is now being called just “PeopleTV.” Though Entertainment Weekly’s brand has been dropped from the name, Time asserts that EW will still “contribute significantly” to PeopleTV."

THROWBACK 2002: "I'm gonna soak up the sun. I'm gonna tell everyone To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that). I've got no one to blame For every time I feel lame. I'm looking up. I'm gonna soak up the sun..."

Is there really any bad SHERYL CROW song? I say no. This one from 2002: "Soak Up The Sun" puts a smile on my face every time. It's the perfect pick-me-up song and it especially works for those who are dealing with a cloudy day.

MEMORY: This was the unofficial song of the 2003 AAJA National Convention in San Diego. My friend Phil Ige used it in the promotional video for the San Diego chapter. It was shown for the first time at the Awards Gala at the 2002 convention in Dallas. The video was well received and it showed off the fantastic photography and editing skills of Mr. Ige.

“It’s really exciting to renew this contract for either five more years or until Kim Jong Un annihilates us all – whichever one comes first,” joked Noah, who, this past weekend, picked up his first Emmy. His statuette is for Best Short Form Variety Series, for The Daily Show‘s “Between the Scenes” digital exclusives.

"It was a finding heard around the sports world. Researchers at Boston University announced in July that they had detected evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in 110 donated brains of former NFL players. They had studied 111. The result suffered from selection bias—the brains had been donated because those men had demonstrated symptoms of the degenerative brain disease—but the report’s ironclad takeaway is that the illness is far more prevalent in pro football players, subject to years of repeated hits to the head, than in the general public. The unavoidable conclusion: Football’s concussion problem is far worse than originally thought."

"There’s a growing push by traditional TV companies to launch direct-to-consumer apps and services, with Disney the latest to announce plans. The subscriber numbers for these services are growing nicely, but the contribution they’re making to overall revenues for their parent companies are still pretty marginal — for now."

THROWBACK 2002: "Don't let me get me. I'm my own worst enemy. It's bad when you annoy yourself. So irritating. Don't wanna be my friend no more. I wanna be somebody else..."

P!NK with her 2002 hit "Don't Let Me Get Me". Whatever you do, don't compare her to Britney Spears.

1. Jim Farber, Entertainment Weekly- "In ”Don’t Let Me Get Me,” she turns self-loathing into a perverse kind of anthem."
2. Jason Thompson, PopMatters- "On the power rock of “Don’t Let Me Get Me”, Pink herself tells it like it is and attempts to break free from the image making machine. “Tired of being compared / To damn Britney Spears / She’s so pretty / That just ain’t me”. Well, that’s debatable in itself, but the fact that Pink takes it upon herself to call Spears out should be nothing short of revelatory. Spears certainly has nothing on Pink in the vocal department. Pink can actually sing. And damn well, mind you."
