Among large urban areas in the United States, New York City has the seventh largest percentage of uninsured residents, comprising a growing group of adults whose healthcare needs are not being adequately met. The Weill Cornell Community Clinic (WCCC), affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College, is a student-led initiative aimed at providing high-quality and equitable healthcare to the uninsured. The WCCC needs the support of organizations and individuals within our community in order to provide the best care possible to as many patients as possible.
On Friday, March 22nd, 2013, the Weill Cornell Community Clinic (WCCC) invites you to the second annual “Without a Safety Net,” a benefit to support the clinic and to raise awareness about the issues faced by our city’s underserved. Our benefit’s theme is inspired by our patients, whose stories of determination and resilience in the face of being uninsured continue to move us. We have seen firsthand how our current healthcare system leaves people "Without a Safety Net." The event will feature an exhibition of new works by artists who were also inspired by the themes and stories emerging from our clinic. We hope you can join us in our mission by supporting our event, our clinic, and our patients. More information about our "Without a Safety Net" event and how you can support the efforts of the Weill Cornell Community Clinic can be found at http://weill.cornell.edu/wccc/safetynet
