That should be on a t-shirt.

Microwave. It is possible to heat water above 100C without it boiling. Dropping in an object provide nucleation zones where the water can bubble.

I'm guessing: the burning turns the sugar into carbon plus oxygen and hydrogen as water vapour. The bicarb helps to soak up the water to leave the carbon to bind to itself, making the weird ash column.

This is a really good description of how our economy works over large and small periods of time. Really worth giving half-an-hour to watch it! Even Gabe watched it with me, and we've been discussing where money comes from and how it can be used since. (Thanks +Cobi Smith)  How The Economic Machine Works by Ray Dalio

There was a "Geek the Vote" campaign by Science and Technology Australia to deliver a copy to every parliamentarian - http://scienceandtechnologyaustralia.org.au/geek-the-vote/ - and I think some of them actually read it!

The sweet potato fries were great! However: you know when you have an unpleasant experience, it colours your view of everything else? In this case, it's the atmosphere. Someone must really like the Rocky soundtrack, because it's blaring out the establishment. The burger isn't that great, the table surfaces are grimy. Cutting costs and/or corners by putting rolls of paper towels out on tables. I think I'll try somewhere else next time.

Don't buy wine over $5 from here! It is not stored properly, and most $10 to $30 bottles I've bought are fizzy or corked.

Very awesome food. However the service is quite poor. Have spent a very long time waiting to be served, and the drinks have still not arrived!

Really good, cheap place to stay. I was passing through and needed to stay the night. Just turned up booked a room. Very clean and very comfortable. (Though the pillows are fat and as hard as rocks!)
