If you like to live on the bleeding edge you can help us test the latest features by becoming an alpha tester. Follow the instructions on the linked page to be able to retrieve alpha versions via Google Play.
But please be aware that things may occasionally go wrong. So you should always have a backup of your data handy.

You can also manually download the APKs here: https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/releases

You will need a crypto provider that supports the newly integrated OpenPGP API[1]. I believe at the moment only OpenKeychain[2] and APG[3] support this interface. Hopefully, Gnu Privacy Guard[4] will follow soon.

Where in G+ may one submit bugs?

Since 2012-Sep thru present 2014, I am patiently awaiting these issues to be fixed: (1) Rotating device while composing mail ERASES all entries (2) App hangs / lacks timeout while polling multiple mail domains over ISP but not over Wi-Fi. This req's one to force-kill K9 to avoid draining battery, (3) After press Fwd on a lengthy email, then press Edit, K9 crops the end portion of original email body.

Since version 4.8 I cannot use the star icon to the right in the message list to flag/unflag emails, as touching the right border of the screen results in the message slider to appear and the message list "jumps" to another date. Any idea how to fix this? My current workaround is flagging emails in message view instead of message lisr view. Would be great to use the stars in the message list again.

If you used K-9 Mail on Android 4.4 (KitKat) you might have noticed that there were quite some issues. We just released v4.801 which fixes a lot of them. Please upgrade and let us know if you're still seeing bugs.

Note: K-9 Mail 4.800 and 4.801 are currently only available for Android 4.4 devices. We'll release an update for all other devices once we're confident the new version is stable enough.

I'd like some help.  I have a lot of spam that I delete from my inbox.  I did not realize that now I have 9000+ emails that are now in my deleted folder.  I'm having issues trying to clear that folder.  Any assistance?

Turns out even though K-9 Mail is an email client not all of our users like mailing lists. So in addition to the K-9 mailing list[1] you can now use this Google+ community to help out each other with your K-9 Mail related problems.

HTML mails (graphical) is not fitted to screen despite having the option checked. Is this a bug or me missing something?

We released a new development snapshot.  A new stable version v4.803 should be available soon.

Changes in v4.900:
• K-9 Mail now uses a locale-specific date in the header of a quoted message
• Added support for bitcoin URIs
• Changed the way we harden SSL/TLS sockets; Blacklist a couple of weak ciphers, bring known ones in a defined order and sort unknown ciphers at the end. Also re-enable SSLv3 because it's still used a lot.
• Display proper error message when certificate couldn't be verified against global key store
• Fixed inadequate certificate validation. Proper host name validation was not being performed for certificates kept in the local keystore. If an attacker could convince a user to accept and store an attacker's certificate, then that certificate could be used for MITM attacks, giving the attacker access to all connections to all servers in all accounts in K-9.
• Make sure to return different colors for senders with different name, but the same mail address (e.g. mails sent by certain issue tracking systems).
• Fixed bug where inline images weren't displayed on KitKat
• Fixed file selection for import on KitKat
• Fixed a bug with POP3 STLS command
• Added/updated auto-configuration settings for some providers
• Updated Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, and Ukrainian translations
