We're now using the beta channel on Google Play for early access to new stable releases. If no new bugs are found those versions are promoted to the 'production' channel. Most of the time the beta channel will contain the same version as the production channel.

I have two feature requests: 1) allow user defined action for left and right swipe og mail. For example move to spam folder.. 2) allow nowrap on message text. Nicely formatted backup reports gets unreadable due to wrapping.

We just published a new development version. It should be available to alpha testers[1] via Google Play shortly. Alternatively, you can download it using the link below K-9.

Changes in v5.103:
• Added ability to customize lock screen notifications (Android 5.0+ only)
• Fixed a bug where a certificate error was wrongly reported
• Updated translations

It looks like we skipped a few announcements here on Google+. Apologies for that!

A quick summary:
• RC 1 was released as K-9 Mail 5.000
• An update was released as 5.001. It disabled the newly introduced SSL/TLS session cachinging because it was causing problems for some users.
• As always, development continues and we occasionally publish snapshots with minor version numbers starting with an odd number.

Development versions you've probably missed:

v5.100:
• Removed SSL/TLS session caching because it was causing problems

v5.101:
• Fixed build problems that caused v5.100 to request the permissions READ_CALL_LOG and WRITE_CALL_LOG

v5.102:
• Improved 'open' functionality for attachments
• Removed APG legacy interface
• Fixed bug in Russian translation

If you like to live on the bleeding edge you can help us test the latest features by becoming an alpha tester. Follow the instructions on the linked page to be able to retrieve alpha versions via Google Play.
But please be aware that things may occasionally go wrong. So you should always have a backup of your data handy.

You can also manually download the APKs here: https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/releases

Hi developers, as you probably know support for PGP/MIME is a very common feature request. I have been contacted by various people who are interested in helping with that. Adding PGP/MIME support is a rather large project. So I created a new repository[1] to be able to liberally hand out write ...

You will need a crypto provider that supports the newly integrated OpenPGP API[1]. I believe at the moment only OpenKeychain[2] and APG[3] support this interface. Hopefully, Gnu Privacy Guard[4] will follow soon.

Why? Android 5 won't be on the majority of devices for the next 5 years or so.

+AxS Myth I just found the solution to this last week, for IMAP anyway. The key is that I needed to refresh my Trash folder. More details: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+ChrisDolan/posts/PkcJ5xgrES6

When I released the first version of K-9 Mail to what was then the Android Market in October of 2008, I had no idea that over 5 years later, we'd have over 1.5 million active users and nearly 6 million installs over the years. Heck, I had no idea that my "temporary fork" of the android mail ...
