Planning, will it be left? They said it would be... but will you be working in that class after all?  A potentially tricky situation for supply teachers... If planning is left, will you be able to decipher it in the 3 minutes you have before the children arrive?

You don't need to use these specific words, but laminate a set of words to keep in your supply teaching bag.... Pull them out for spelling games, and dictionary work too! #supplyteaching   #ideasforsupply

When looking for resources, go to the source... By that I mean if you're wanting a quick one-off lesson on money for Key Stage 2, a great position that you're in as a supply teacher is that you don't have to stick to what the school tell you to do (when no planning is left I mean!) so you're free to use the wealth of resources created by, for example, banks - who better to commission and create a money skills resource?!

What would the kids like to see dished up this term?   It's a fresh start, they may like to doodle a special menu for the summer! #supplychat   #supplyteachingideas   Simple for them all to draw, don't try and print to photocopy!

Print, cut out individual shapes, laminate: great science activity on the life cycle of a plant for Key Stage 1, but I bet some Year 6s will enjoy it for a minute or two too! Keep it in your supply teaching bag for an instant kickstart to a science lesson.

Almost a shape poem?  Spring flowers, poetry, adjectives, a one-off literacy plan - sorted!  Supply teaching does have perks: sometimes you get to 'do what you want' courtesy of a post-it note in place of the plans!
