Missing here is any mention of the massive Stagefright exploit that leaves all Android phones open to someone taking control of your phone without you doing anything. Google has put out an update to all its partners, HTC included, but HTC will only be rolling out the fix to anyone who is still being supported. This means HTC One M7 owners are out of luck. HTC sent the following response: “Google informed HTC of the issue and provided the necessary patches, which HTC began rolling into projects in early July. All projects going forward contain the required fix.”
My phone is only 2 years old, bought new from my provider... this makes my phone a brick, no one will buy it now, and honestly I don't want to use it if it can't be patched... Thanks, HTC, I'm going to have to move back to Nexus devices now, my trust in HTC has taken a hit.
My question is, would you buy a phone knowing that the provider will not patch a major flaw in the OS even though a fix is available?
