Very sad to learn of the passing peacefully this morning of Joe Murphy, Past JCI World President 1984. Joe was Ireland's first ever JCI World President and he started as a member in Ballina Junior Chamber here in Mayo. May he Rest In Peace.

The JCI Mayo Friendly Business Awards have launched for 2016. JCI Mayo is accepting nominations across six categories, which we believe form the fundamental elements of customer service and business friendliness:

· Community Impact - Does the business give something back to the local community?
· Customer Care - How helpful and courteous is the business when serving its customers?
· Digital Experience - How well does the business use digital avenues to help its customers?
· Disability Access – How does the business make itself accessible to all customers?
· Eco-Friendliness - How well does the business serve the environment and local economy?
· Shop Layout and Design - How clean, attractive and well-presented is the business?

The business that best excels across all six categories will be awarded the title of Mayo's Friendliest Business.

To nominate a business for the 2016 Friendly Business Awards, please complete the online nomination form, available at
http://jciireland.ie/friendly-business-nominations/

Happy United Nations Day! JCI is the only NGO permitted to use the UN globe in its logo, after an agreement made in 1954. JCI supports the UN Millennium goals. Our biggest UN project is supporting the Nothing but Nets campaign in the fight again malaria. The campaign raises awareness and much needed funds to provide treated bed nets for sub-Saharan Africa. JCI is 100 years old this year and the UN is 70 years old this year.
