Last month, President Barack Obama signed into law the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act – this is great news for the industry.

As studies from the Project Management Institute (PMI®) have shown over the years, certified Project Management Professionals (PMP®) earn on average up to 20% more than their non-certified colleagues. Knowing the value of project management certifications, experience and skills can be a great advantage for organizations seeking to fill project management roles, as well as for individuals competing to qualify for those roles.

The act will enhance accountability and best practices in project and program management throughout the federal government. The legislation, strongly endorsed by the PMI®, was approved by both chambers of Congress with overwhelming bipartisan support.

The Critical Path Method (CPM) is a technique used to help schedules determine the longest path of activities, the shortest possible project duration, and the level of scheduling flexibility which exists.

The goal of CPM is to use the network logic determined during activity sequencing and the estimated activity durations to find the path of project activities with the longest duration. Once the critical path has been determined, it helps the project team understand the shortest possible duration allowing them to plan the longest required path.

In our video Chris Talmont, PMP Director of Program Management at Off Peak Training, provides an overview of how to perform #Critical #Path #Method (#CPM) to find the Critical Path and Float using a Network Diagram. It is aimed at project managers and schedulers preparing for the PMP and PMI-SP exams. See it here: http://bit.ly/2eJkeOZ #PMP

You can’t manage risk on your project if you haven’t identified what those risks are. Your ability to manage project uncertainties can make the difference between finishing your project on budget and schedule or facing steep overruns.

Risk management training helps standardize the way you and your teams plan, identify, analyze, and respond to these project risks: http://bit.ly/2dYq6lA
