I'm from St. Louis and I have never written a review on a restaurant before. I had such great service, and even better flavor from the sushi, BBQ spare ribs, and lamb. If you're a fan of good food, this place should be on your list.

Very helpful with my challenging gluten free diet! The waitress was very accommodating to my food allergies. The brown rice sushi was yummy with roasted sesame seeds. The service is excellent and the restaurant is nice.

I went here for dinner to eat sushi. I have to say that the sushi was rather good, but I have had better in the city. I definitely was not disappointed though. We sat at the bar, as the place was all booked. The sushi chef was really friendly and made a couple of custom rolls for us. The interior is very nice and chic, where you know everyone here is to eat and then stay in the neighborhood to party late in their best dressed swag. Hell, that is the whole reason I was there myself! :) I think what impressed me, and I mean SUPER impressed me was their homemade ice cream. It was really awesome and you could tell it was homemade. I ordered the coconut rum, espresso, and banana which comes in small scoops in their own separate little dishes. Yum!

I love Union. But I don't love it for the sushi. I love it for the barbeque. This is definitely a trendy spot. If you're craving really good sushi, there are plenty better places to go. However, Union has a plethora of delicious options and happy hour specials that CANNOT be beat ($1 oysters, $2 beef skewers, and $4 shrimp tempura rolls). The way they dress their oysters is really delicious. They are raw, but a great introduction to oysters for friends who are not down with good old horseradish or cocktail sauce. Other dishes I've tried include: truffled tuna - good but overbearingly "truffly", prosciutto wrapped scallop - how could you go wrong here?, bbq califlower - omg this is my favorite thing on the menu, and many delicious and creative cocktails. Another thing that seems to be popular is subbing black rice into your sushi. I have not done this, but I will in the future! Looking forward to going back.

Pretty good spot. Sushi is great and unique and the things from the grill are pretty good. I really liked the fresh wasabi root and the black rice sushi. Also the truffle tuna tartare is awesome. The only downside is that it is out of the way and super over priced.

I'm knocking them down a point for their cash policy -- they don't have any change, just bills. So if your bill is .51 or greater, they short you the rest. If it's .49 or less, they round up and give you the dollar. Very strange, but they said it's common practice in River North. I recommend using your credit card to avoid being skimmed. It's not so much the little bit that makes a difference one time, but I go there 3 - 4 times a month. If this happened every time, that would add up over a year. Still love the sushi and think it's a great place! LOVE Union Sushi. Make sure to try everything with the black rice -- lower carbs!! My faves are the spicy tuna roll and mushroom roll. Also, the beef satays are only $2 during happy hour. If you are looking for a cocktail, try the conspicuous mule.

Great ambience, great food and perfect portions. The staff area really nice and sitting by the fire is pretty amazing! Love this place and love coming here! This place is more great at creating hot small dishes then sushi per say. Love the creativity!
