This is so awesome. Imagine coding a track that maintains overall structure (such that it is easily recognizable), but is slightly different every time you play it!

I've done this as well, and I'm very junior to any serious programming, so certainly to any serious Python use, and have used IPython very minimally. --pylab is nigh ubiquitous. So, thank you.

Also, there are some other options than %matplotlib, and many newer users may not know this. I have only tinkered a little, but both Plotly[1] and ggplot2[2] look to be interesting alternatives.
