My cat Shadow is a sweet soul. She seems to know we love the birds around, so she lives with that - so far...

A wander round Safety Beach today and I saw this little gem.
Yes. That is an armchair just left on the beach.

It was a stale Friday afternoon! The cobwebs of stress were thick and sticky! I really didn't want to go down into the buzz of the shopping centre to get some milk! I just wanted to go home! The light outside the shops was mellow and a little tainted with melancholic sleep! But through the mists of my zombie land, I heard the magic of guitar strings! New rhythms in an old world! I stopped! I listened! I leant on a pillar and listened some more! I smiled! The man turned just as I decided to take a photo of this dream escape moment! He cast a quizzical question my way, but kept playing! I felt a little awkward, so took the long way round to the entrance and bought the necessary milk! But I came back! And stayed awhile again listening to the beautiful heartbeats of the music! A little jazz, a little folk and a little new world evolving! This time, I braved my shyness, and when the man took a break, I thanked him for giving me new life and a new spirit! He just smiled and said briefly "So glad I could help!" And then continued to play...

My shadow poems/haiku 2011 appearing on the just emerging Shadow Shot Sunday 2 blog! My madness for blogging is getting "worse/better/out-of-control" - (Pick one!) http://shadowshotsunday2.blogspot.com/p/shadow-poems-2011-gemma-wiseman.html

Jeff was a blonde-haired 18 year old who valued school as a space to dream about other lifestyles. And he was in my English class. All he wanted to be was an electrician! He wanted to be a special electrician - one with flair (read "dramatic flair and a winning smile!") Many teachers had tried to encourage him to value using capital letters at the beginning of sentences and for other appropriate names! "But you know what I mean, Miss!" Finally a breakthrough! I persuaded him to design a very special invoice for an electrician! Did he want to look as if he didn't care about his work? Did he want to seem unskilled? Did he want his invoice to be understood easily? Suddenly, capital letters had meaning in his life! And yes! He is a rather sought after electrician these days! And he still has a winning smile!
Morals:
Find the key to the mind and there lies a kingdom of possibility!
Sometimes formalised education practices simply don't fit all students!

This page will record the moments in my life I will never forget! Those moments are like precious gems in my mind and stars in my soul! Many of them will be associated with my long teaching experiences! Some relate to my other lives! And somehow I always return to the sea or the mountains or the open countryside to refresh my spirit! This photo was taken last weekend at Tootgarook on the Mornington Peninsula. Summer seemed to be dawning!
