Superba Snack Bar is a Venice twist on a modern pastaria.

We are people who insist on living well. We are a community born of the belief that the good things in life ought to be shared and that great food should be accessible to all who seek it.

We believe in honest food and give our ingredients, process, and people equal consideration and respect. Our offerings follow the arc of the moon and the changing of the seasons, from our house made pastas, to our small plate snacks and our ongoing ode to vegetables - we value quality, creativity and integrity above all.

From our hands and our hearts we've set out to create a communal gathering spot where good conversation, great food, and mind-blowing experiences rule.

Now, all we need is you.

Excellent food. The pastas (smoked bucatini and a flat noodle dish with bolognese) had texture and were well seasoned, and the kale salad was fantastic-- each leaf lightly coated in dressing and a good cheese-- no dry spots yet not overly rich. Wines paired well. And a nice bustling space.

One of my favorite restaurants in LA, and one of the few places I am actually willing to drive all the way to Venice from Los Feliz to eat at. The name of the restaurant makes it seem like....idk...a snack bar... but it's actually a really cool restaurant. My only complaint is that the menu is constantly changing, so I always have to get something new when I go. Fortunately, I've never had a bad dish. Everything is phenomenal, and the flavor combinations are so well-thought-out and so unique.

Superba is, well, superb! Very true to Venice, rustic but trendy, and the quality of the food is top-notch. Homemade pastas are served in intensely flavorful sauces, and flavor is the theme across the rest of the menu as well. Even the brussel sprouts that are found on every small plates restaurant in the country stands out here in a miso broth and poached egg presentation.

Knowing this is a pastaria, I I had to try the smoked bucatini carbonara. I also tried the braised octopus & cauliflower T-bone. Both were beautifully plated. The carbonara was topped with a delicately poached egg (which I recommend breaking & mixing with the pasta). The handmade pasta was al dente & straw-like in texture. The black pepper rounded out the dish & gave it a heartiness (and lingering bite at the end of each mouthful) that all pastas should have. The cauliflower T-bone consisted of slightly charred cauliflower, parsley puree, orange & olive pistou. The shape & fun presentation of a "T-bone" made me smile. The consistency of the dish achieved the middle ground between raw, crunch cauliflower & overly charred cauliflower. The parsley, orange & olive gave the dish complexity. Indeed, if I were blindfolded, I would have no idea this was cauliflower because I would be so distracted by the tingling of my tastebuds & myriad of textures in my mouth. I also had the Sangiovese wine which was very good and a great addition to the perfect meal.

Cozy, but not cramped space with a comfortable patio. Wine and beer list are good, if not expansive. No hard liquor, sadly, but the wine cocktail my wife had was pretty good. Food is tapas style, size wise, if not in content. The gravlax was great, and the fried chicken even better, with a bit of sweet and enough crunch to satisfy even a certain colonel. Other dishes were a bit salty, and didn't always line up with the prices. Overall, pricing is optimistic, let's say, but worth a trip. Parking can be a gosh darned nightmare. They have a lot around the corner, but by the time you find it (see the sign on the door, it's up a couple blocks) you'll probably have stashed your car in some obtuse, barely legal space.

The good things on their menu are great, like the fried chicken. There are other things that are just ok. I like the tapas concept, but entrees are relatively small for the pricing. Drinks were great, including wine based cocktails.

Fantastic potato and rosemary waffle. Fantastic chorizo and eggs (pictured). Not crazy about their hibiscus tea but others may like it. First time visit, will definitely come back

Superba is a great neighborhood restaurant with an upscale feel. Each dish is well thought out and intricate. The pastas are decadent and cocktails are (while not liquor based) interesting and tasty. Good for a casual dinner or one where you need to impress. For parties larger than six you will be hit with a mandatory tasting menu, which can make or break your plans.
