Obviously it wasn't getting enough use. But its such a cool technology I thought a lot of people would have been using it.
I've often thought it would be a good idea to wire in and hide a device running Latitude somewhere in your car in case it gets ripped off.
I've also wondered why dispatchers of emergency services never used something like Latitude to help determine who would be best/closest to send to an emergency (it could save lives), or when multiple units are needed, the first responders could easily see where and how far away backup is.
Now I understand why companies and Governments are so reluctant to incorporate services from third parties and instead attempt to build their own.
They may cost a lot more to build your own and not be as good as the third parties, but at least they know the rug isn't going to get pulled out from underneath them once they're up and running.
