The section on when to apply to Medicare in this article is pretty good. Of course I would also say it makes sense to contact an advisor that works in this market. Medicare can be complex and understanding your choices is important. I was under the impression that you did not need to apply for Part A (it was automatic since it doesn't cost anything) so even someone that works with this can learn something.

With more people insured will there be greater demand for medical care? Some people think the answer is yes.

At this point I am not convinced that there will be more people insured.

- The penalty for not having insurance is small, $95 annually.
- Many people may not know about the penalty until they file their taxes in 2015
- The cost of health insurance may not be considered affordable by the purchasers
- Those uninsured due to health problems and cost due to higher age will spring for coverage but the young person just starting out will find the cost for coverage to be increasing so many may opt-out

This will be fun to watch. Hold onto your seats and if you like weigh in on your projection of the winners and losers.

There really aren't any easy answers when it comes to #PPACA. Certainly deciding to pay up to $2,000 per employee and dependent is not an easy answer.

Guidance on #healthcarereform is beginning to trickle out. With coming deadlines I expect the trickle will become a flood very soon.

Just thinking about all those individual policies without maternity benefits. Not sure if they will consider their options affordable.
