WESH 2 News Investigates reporter Matt Grant joined WESH 2 News in June 2013.
Before joining WESH 2 News, Matt worked as a reporter for WFTX-TV in Fort Myers and KRCG-TV in Columbia, Missouri. His hard-hitting investigations uncovered corruption and wrongdoing and sparked change across southwest Florida. Key exposés include: “sub-standard” care and questionable surveillance practices at a Florida Veterans Administration Hospital; suspect use of more than a million dollars of taxpayer “stimulus money”; and secret pay raises and dubious practices at a local college. The latter investigation spanned two years and led to the firing of the school’s president and vice-president.
Matt’s previous station described him as a “champion for taxpayers,” and his reporting has earned him two Emmys and an Edward R. Murrow award.
Matt got his start in broadcast journalism as an assignment desk editor for News 12 The Bronx. He holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marist College. He’s also a proud member of Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), a non-profit organization dedicated to investigative journalism.
Matt has been a proud volunteer and supporter of the Special Olympics. When he’s not digging for the next story, he enjoys reading, going to Florida’s beautiful beaches and traveling
