Introduction

Morgan Chesky is an award winning journalist who comes to Oklahoma after covering stories drawing national attention from his native state of Texas.

His latest assignment at KOCO News is anchoring the weekend newscasts and offering a clear look on the latest news through his weekday reports.

Before coming to Oklahoma, Morgan spent more than a year in Austin covering the constant issues arising from city hall. He reported live amidst one of the state's largest disasters, when wildfires tore across Central Texas, leaving thousands homeless. In 2009, during his time anchoring and reporting in Tyler, Texas, he witnessed the impact of Fort Hood's mass shooting. Over the next few days, his stories and interviews of soldiers offered a glimpse inside the tragedy.

Morgan has been recognized for his work most recently from Texas Associated Press Broadcasters as one of the state's top reporters. His in-depth series on conditions at a Christian bootcamp was also honored, and led to organizers canceling the event after exposing numerous injuries and mistreatment of participants.

When he's not on TV, you can find Morgan knocking out a few miles on a run, or on the Oklahoma river as an aspiring rower. His passion for journalism he discovered at Sam Houston State University is one he loves to share with classrooms and online through the site Breaking into Broadcasting.
