It's cold outside, so cozy up to some in-room dining and a glass of vino.

Room OK but front desk completely messed up. 1) both mine and my gf's names were on the reservation (me as a lead traveller). My girlfriend wanted to check in before me since I was busy that day until 5pm. We both called the hotel to make sure they'd let her into the room the day before. Then, she comes to the front desk at 3pm and the lady tells her sorry can't let you in, we need an email from your boyfriend because he's the lead traveler. She showed them my confirmation email on her phone, but that wasn't enough as they needed to receive it themselves. Since I was not available on my phone, she had to wait for me for like 3 hours. 2) Even though I booked the hotel using the miles I got charged $270 (more than one night!!). Lady that is in charge of payments at the hotel didn't respond to my calls and voicemails, so I ended up disputing the charge through credit card company (chase) and now have to wait one month for refund. WTF Intercontinental?

There's just no way this hotel should be rated 4.5 stars. They quietly sneak in a $125 charge per day on your credit card without saying a word about it. Then everything you touch has a 1000% mark up on it and I mean there total crooks! A large bottle of regular evian water they pay a dollar for is ten dollars in your room and a cheeseburger is 19.00 and valet parking is $65 a day plus gratuity. The rooms are small the walls are thin and it's JUST NOT WORTH IT!!!

I was at a meeting and the hotel staff would not give my wife a key or let her in the room when she locked herself out. They were dismissive and rude to her. I have stayed at many Intercontinental Hotels and all have been fantastic; however, the Chicago property is not worthy of being a Travel Lodge. I say this not because of the 'security issue' as the front desk explained it, but also because it's just not standard with the brand ... and the brand has diminished significantly. Other properties have been very lovely and elegant ... this was cheap, poorly decorated, over priced, and the desk staff infuriated me.

This hotel certainly looks grande and elegant, but the service and rooms don't reflect the same level of quality. When checking in I could see the man's stomach hanging out of the bottom of his button-up. Staff made multiple billing mistakes. After correcting a few incorrect charges, my final bill was still $50 more than what I was quoted at the time of booking. Location is great! The main reason for not giving a lower star rating. If you're currently shopping around for a hotel, it would be worth your while (and money) to find a cheaper nearby hotel, and there are plenty!

I booked this hotel on Expedia and already paid. But this hotel charged me another $500 without telling me, after I called them, they told me it's a mistake. It's so careless for such a big hotel to charge its guest extra money. I don't wanna live there again. They even don't provide microwave service to its guests, so we cannot heat our deep dish pizza

We paid almost 400 for our room and it was NOT worth the money at all. The room was smaller than any hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was decorated very vintage like - my grandma probably decorated it. It was a cleaner version of a Super 8, basically. You have to pay 20 dollars for wifi, which is SO stupid. Half of the other hotels give you it for free. Parking is overpriced - $60 a night. Also, around midnight we walked out onto the front of the hotel and there was a drunk guy harassing us and a group of girls. We eventually went inside to tell security and they finally came out 5 minutes later....and then blamed it on us! They still took the guy inside - never saw him again. The lobby is really the only extravagant part. The rest of the hotel does not match. The floor we stayed on was super small. I suggest staying at the Intercontinental O'hare, which is brand new and cheaper - and decorated very modern and way better than this piece of crap hotel. The gift shop is overpriced as well - $10 for a small ice cream? REALLY? It's pathetic.
