I reserved a king "superior" room as part of an event block more than a month prior to the event. Upon arrival (20 minutes after check-in time started) I was advised that the room size I selected was "more of a preference than a reservation" and that the room type I selected was sold out. I acknowledge that this is probably a common thing if a hotel gets full for them to downgrade groups with discounted rates, but when I went online I saw plenty of king rooms and suites still available at this hotel! I called to ask for one of those rooms "even if I had to pay for it" and was not met with a conciliatory voice in any way, shape, or form. I was surprised that this class of hotel would make so little of an effort to help solve a problem that clearly had a solution. I called customer service for the hotel and was told that someone from my hotel would call me back but they never did. I don't think I can stay at this hotel chain again, how could I ever trust that my reservations would be respected? If you are organizing a group please keep this review in mind!

My husband and I booked this hotel through hotwire (which we use all the time). We chose the hotel because it was listed as a 4.5 star. The Intercontinental is FAR from 4.5 stars. That rank is based on name only. Only thing this hotel has going for it is the great location. We checked in to the hotel and were given what was is probably the "hotwire" hotel. I tiny odd shaped dark, dingy, and musty room. We complained about the room and were moved into a larger handicap room. Because this was handicap accessible the fixtures and whatnot were not as nice. The A/C in this room did not work so at 4:30am we requested another room and they sent keys up. We packed up and went to the other room and the keys would not work. Security came to assist us and we found as we entered the new room that ther was already guests in that room sleeping! In this day to walk in and suprise someone sleeping could be very dangerous!! You never know who those people were! We went back to the lobby where we had to wait for about 30 minutes for the ONE clerk on duty to go in the back office and speak with the manager. They came back with keys for another room. This room was small but much newer and brighter then the first two. A few other notes- the towels are HORRIBLE! They are small, shabby, and worn. I could not even wrap one around myself and I could see through the worn sections on them. The shower smelled of mildew like they used dirty rags to clean it. The staff was rude and not helpful at all despite all the issues we had. They could have cared less that we were unhappy!! I will NEVER stay at another InterContinental again. My husband and I travel quite often and normally stay at Hilton or Westin. I will stick with these top brands! I have never complained or posted complaints about a hotel in the past but I feel this is a must so that other's aren't fooled by this hotel.

Worst Costumer Service, there was a very mean black girl at front desk with the worst attitude. Rest of employees not friendly at all. Internet dint work and they will still charge you. Valet parking very high. Rooms cheap.

Downtown for a wedding...stayed at the Intercontinental. Outstanding location, clean, quiet, large room on 9th floor. Service was top-notch, all the way around. Can't wait to go back!!

ok, it's over priced. $600 a night for a king suite in the tower, and there's no Jacuzzi tub. It's over 700 sq feet, two bathrooms, a separate living/office area and bed room, views are moderate and staff is amazing. you will hear sirens outside every thirty minutes if you're lucky and they wait that long. no steak house discount, the staff were amazing however. a bottle of chardonnay for our anniversary was a nice touch. stayed three nights, the last day of which was all in the room as it was ten degrees out

Love this hotel. Their conference/rooms are arabian themed and are oh-so-pretty and colorful. They have the best pool in the city. Olympic-size AND indoor!

Coffee maker did not work- The "manager" "on duty" thought it was amusing that our birthday's were not recognized even though it was the hotel that asked if there was a special occasion. They gave us a key to someone else's room! Tried to speak to them about the coffee maker not working in the morning and the result was we had no coffee until an hour passed when they did bring in a coffee maker that worked. You don't want to see my wife without her morning coffee for a full hour- It was not fun. BY THE WAY- THIS IS A BUSINESS HOTEL - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU IF YOU ARE JUST A TOURIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TO A HOTEL THAT WILL APPRECIATE YOU.

Room OK but front desk completely messed up. 1) both mine and my gf's names were on the reservation (me as a lead traveller). My girlfriend wanted to check in before me since I was busy that day until 5pm. We both called the hotel to make sure they'd let her into the room the day before. Then, she comes to the front desk at 3pm and the lady tells her sorry can't let you in, we need an email from your boyfriend because he's the lead traveler. She showed them my confirmation email on her phone, but that wasn't enough as they needed to receive it themselves. Since I was not available on my phone, she had to wait for me for like 3 hours. 2) Even though I booked the hotel using the miles I got charged $270 (more than one night!!). Lady that is in charge of payments at the hotel didn't respond to my calls and voicemails, so I ended up disputing the charge through credit card company (chase) and now have to wait one month for refund. WTF Intercontinental?
