You never know what hidden gems you might stumble across in our historic hotel. The breathtaking Spanish Tea Court was inspired by the era of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella and decorated with Spanish Majolica tile. Photo via @crgshprg.

So we arrived late, around 11:00 PM. The staff was extremely professional and polite. They gave us a free room upgrade on the top floor. They also gave us two complimentary Starbucks coffees for the next day. Starbucks is located in the lobby. This is by far one of the nicest hotel experiences my family has had in Chicago. A five star experience!

Not what I expected. Double bed room is small. no fridge or microwave which is extra 25$ a night if wanted 125$extra a night on hold. $3 charge to warm up food. no free breakfast just 10% off. +1 star for friendly staff +1 star for being clean +1 star for location. I was text when my room was ready when checking in. Taxi cabs always available. restaurants and shopping malls and walgreens less than a mile away.

Our long day of multiple flight delays was saved by outstanding hotel service and a room upgrade. At 1am in the morning, the three of us took the elevator up to the 23rd floor and felt instantly relaxed in our suite. There were two double beds in the bedroom and a couch with a pull out bed in the living room. Facing south, we had a great view of downtown Chicago. In mid-April, the hotel was headquarter for the NCME 2015 conference. Sessions were held in various rooms such as the Grand Ballroom and the Empire Room. On the 3rd floor, there were medieval themed rooms such as the King Arthur Court room, which was decorated with stained glass windows, dark wooden walls, and chandeliers with lightbulb candles. Customer service was exceptional. We didn’t wait more than 10 minutes before they brought us what we needed (e.g., extra bathrobes). Our housekeeping lady remembered us and even pointed me in the direction of our room when I walked in the opposite direction. The food, however, was less than exceptional. Sunday morning, I got a breakfast omelet with hash brown, toast, and cranberry muffin delivered to the room. It wasn’t anything special, just something fast and convenient. The swimming pool, which reminded me of a Roman bath house, was located on the 14th floor. Saturday morning, I traveled downstairs in my bathrobe and slippers and had a refreshing swim. Then I walked to the café next door for donuts and coffee. The location of the hotel was great: coffee, candy, and tea shops next door, Millennium Park was a 10 minute walk, architecture cruise boats departed from the corner. Overall, we enjoyed coming back to the hotel after long days of conferencing and sightseeing. It was the best part of the trip, and a luxury for three graduate students.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were clean but incredibly small. I'm 5 ft tall and very petite but I was uncomfortable.

The room was small and dated.Housekeeping was atrocious. When I arrived I found crumbs on the dresser,a semi detached shower faucet, pillow cases that had not been put on and the room was generally dirty. I have stayed in Super 8's that were better.I will alert the manager about my dissatisfaction.

ok, it's over priced. $600 a night for a king suite in the tower, and there's no Jacuzzi tub. It's over 700 sq feet, two bathrooms, a separate living/office area and bed room, views are moderate and staff is amazing. you will hear sirens outside every thirty minutes if you're lucky and they wait that long. no steak house discount, the staff were amazing however. a bottle of chardonnay for our anniversary was a nice touch. stayed three nights, the last day of which was all in the room as it was ten degrees out
