So we arrived late, around 11:00 PM. The staff was extremely professional and polite. They gave us a free room upgrade on the top floor. They also gave us two complimentary Starbucks coffees for the next day. Starbucks is located in the lobby. This is by far one of the nicest hotel experiences my family has had in Chicago. A five star experience!

The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were clean but incredibly small. I'm 5 ft tall and very petite but I was uncomfortable.

ok, it's over priced. $600 a night for a king suite in the tower, and there's no Jacuzzi tub. It's over 700 sq feet, two bathrooms, a separate living/office area and bed room, views are moderate and staff is amazing. you will hear sirens outside every thirty minutes if you're lucky and they wait that long. no steak house discount, the staff were amazing however. a bottle of chardonnay for our anniversary was a nice touch. stayed three nights, the last day of which was all in the room as it was ten degrees out

My husband and I booked this hotel through hotwire (which we use all the time). We chose the hotel because it was listed as a 4.5 star. The Intercontinental is FAR from 4.5 stars. That rank is based on name only. Only thing this hotel has going for it is the great location. We checked in to the hotel and were given what was is probably the "hotwire" hotel. I tiny odd shaped dark, dingy, and musty room. We complained about the room and were moved into a larger handicap room. Because this was handicap accessible the fixtures and whatnot were not as nice. The A/C in this room did not work so at 4:30am we requested another room and they sent keys up. We packed up and went to the other room and the keys would not work. Security came to assist us and we found as we entered the new room that ther was already guests in that room sleeping! In this day to walk in and suprise someone sleeping could be very dangerous!! You never know who those people were! We went back to the lobby where we had to wait for about 30 minutes for the ONE clerk on duty to go in the back office and speak with the manager. They came back with keys for another room. This room was small but much newer and brighter then the first two. A few other notes- the towels are HORRIBLE! They are small, shabby, and worn. I could not even wrap one around myself and I could see through the worn sections on them. The shower smelled of mildew like they used dirty rags to clean it. The staff was rude and not helpful at all despite all the issues we had. They could have cared less that we were unhappy!! I will NEVER stay at another InterContinental again. My husband and I travel quite often and normally stay at Hilton or Westin. I will stick with these top brands! I have never complained or posted complaints about a hotel in the past but I feel this is a must so that other's aren't fooled by this hotel.

Our long day of multiple flight delays was saved by outstanding hotel service and a room upgrade. At 1am in the morning, the three of us took the elevator up to the 23rd floor and felt instantly relaxed in our suite. There were two double beds in the bedroom and a couch with a pull out bed in the living room. Facing south, we had a great view of downtown Chicago. In mid-April, the hotel was headquarter for the NCME 2015 conference. Sessions were held in various rooms such as the Grand Ballroom and the Empire Room. On the 3rd floor, there were medieval themed rooms such as the King Arthur Court room, which was decorated with stained glass windows, dark wooden walls, and chandeliers with lightbulb candles. Customer service was exceptional. We didn’t wait more than 10 minutes before they brought us what we needed (e.g., extra bathrobes). Our housekeeping lady remembered us and even pointed me in the direction of our room when I walked in the opposite direction. The food, however, was less than exceptional. Sunday morning, I got a breakfast omelet with hash brown, toast, and cranberry muffin delivered to the room. It wasn’t anything special, just something fast and convenient. The swimming pool, which reminded me of a Roman bath house, was located on the 14th floor. Saturday morning, I traveled downstairs in my bathrobe and slippers and had a refreshing swim. Then I walked to the café next door for donuts and coffee. The location of the hotel was great: coffee, candy, and tea shops next door, Millennium Park was a 10 minute walk, architecture cruise boats departed from the corner. Overall, we enjoyed coming back to the hotel after long days of conferencing and sightseeing. It was the best part of the trip, and a luxury for three graduate students.

Not what I expected. Double bed room is small. no fridge or microwave which is extra 25$ a night if wanted 125$extra a night on hold. $3 charge to warm up food. no free breakfast just 10% off. +1 star for friendly staff +1 star for being clean +1 star for location. I was text when my room was ready when checking in. Taxi cabs always available. restaurants and shopping malls and walgreens less than a mile away.

Love this hotel. Their conference/rooms are arabian themed and are oh-so-pretty and colorful. They have the best pool in the city. Olympic-size AND indoor!

Coffee maker did not work- The "manager" "on duty" thought it was amusing that our birthday's were not recognized even though it was the hotel that asked if there was a special occasion. They gave us a key to someone else's room! Tried to speak to them about the coffee maker not working in the morning and the result was we had no coffee until an hour passed when they did bring in a coffee maker that worked. You don't want to see my wife without her morning coffee for a full hour- It was not fun. BY THE WAY- THIS IS A BUSINESS HOTEL - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU IF YOU ARE JUST A TOURIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TO A HOTEL THAT WILL APPRECIATE YOU.
