There's often a line for the specialty lobster rolls at this long-standing red shack with a patio.- Google
People talk about lobster roll, lobster meat, long line, melted butter and drawn butter

One of the best pure lobster rolls in New England. No frills (also no inside, no tables, and no chairs). It's walkup, place your order, wait a while, and walk away with it. But, truly awesome lobster rolls and what else would you go to Red's for?

I'm honestly not one to complain or to write a negative review over the internet. However, I was completely let down and dissatisfied with this establishment and I feel ripped off. If I'm waiting in line like a sheep for 30 minutes+ then I better not be receiving french fries that are of lesser quality than McDonalds. Their "world famous lobster roll" is nothing more than a dinky hot dog roll stuffed with plain lobster meat. They don't even put it together, the mayo and "butter" (which tasted more like vegetable oil) are served on the side. If I wanted a do it yourself lobster roll, I'd go buy fresh lobster meat and make my own at home. For a place that is famous for their lobster rolls having a whole lobster in them, they should invest in bigger rolls, because I laughed when I saw it. The food was unsatisfying and not worth my time or money. Red's is a tourist attraction, and nothing more than that, although I cannot understand why. Anyone who lives in Maine would not consider this a genuine place to enjoy seafood. Save yourself the disappointment and go across the street from Reds for a real lobster roll. This place is a joke.

We stopped there on the advice of a friend two years ago as we were heading north to Maine. Wow! We waited in line about 45 minutes but the lobster rolls were worth it. If you are looking for a lobster roll with a lot of filler, forget it. These are all lobster meat and plenty of it. They serve melted butter in a cup on the side for dipping. We are going north again next week and we are planning to stop again and bringing friends. I can't wait to hear what they have to say. I just hope it is as good as the last time.

Best Lobster roll ever! My husband and I were driving through Wiscasset when we noticed a mile long line of people at a red shack. We could not imagine what would be so outstanding to wait in a line that long, so we turned around and parked. We know now and we would do it 100 times again. Outstanding is an understatement of Red's Eats. We ate lobster every day while in Maine and there is no comparison with any other and we were in many towns.

The food was not as tasty as Sprague's seafood across the street. The food and service do not warrant the long wait. A rude and unpleasant woman who worked there all but accused me of stealing lobster rolls: my wife had ordered and paid for them but after the long wait in line asked me to go pick them up when our number was barked into the megaphone system they have. I was so turned off that I ordered a lobster roll from Sprague's across the street. (They offer a real seafood menu, like steamed lobster and clams, mussles, etc. and have a freindly staff and a nicer dinig area with a better view) I compared the Sprague's lobster roll and Red's. Bottom line - Red's is all HYPE! Eat at Sprauge's!
