This is the absolute best lobster roll on the planet. Long wait time? Yes. Every time I go it's nearly an hour in line. They bring you nice cold water with lemon while you wait. Worth the wait? Yes. Over a pound of lobster in each roll. Fresh and cold on a toasted bun. With hot butter or cold mayo or both. Pricy? Considering you get over a pound of lobster, not really. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a dining treat you won't soon forget.

The long wait is done on purpose. This is so that you are famished when you finally get your cold lobster shoved into a toasted bun. People say that the lobster rolls from here are the "best in Maine" - it's pure hype and nothing but. For $40 we got two lobster rolls with cold lobster, a side of awful onion rings, and a container of an awful mixture of butter and oil. The eating area is cheap in every aspect, cramped, and they want you to eat their expensive food and leave so that some other idiot can take your place.

Line was so long (which I expected) but the food wasn't worth the wait. It was still good but nothing special. I did it to do it but I wouldn't wait on that line again.

Knowing that customers will often wait in line for a half hour or longer, my family and I decided to wait until nighttime to try it out while on our vacation to Maine. It was close to 9:00 pm when we got there, and there was no line whatsoever. I was served my lobster roll within a few short minutes and we sat at a table in the back. The service was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The lobster meat--and there is a lot of it--is served cold and plain. It is not lobster salad like in many other lobster rolls. The mayo and butter are served on the side. I do not like mayo, which is why I tried Red's, but I put ample butter on it. The first few bites, honestly, were the best things I've ever tasted. Extremely fresh meat. But my big disappointment came as I continued to eat the sandwich: It is just too much lobster. After I was about halfway done, I was done. I wasn't full; I was just found myself growing sick of the taste of just lobster. If I'm ever in Maine again, I would definitely go there for another lobster roll, but I would probably split it with someone.

Superb friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. I get the histpry of this place. However, the "outstanding" fish and chips was not very good. The fish was soggy with grease and very brown. We waited 30-45 minutes to get 2 fried fish dinners that cost us more than a nice sit down meal somewhere else. So over-hyped and disappointing. ,

Absolutely worth the wait! The best of the lobster rolls I've had on my trip through Maine. They are HUGE so come hungry or plan to share. The butter on the side is the best!! Everything else they were serving looked and smelled amazing as well. Would definitely go back again if I get the chance. The wait was very long but we expected it, so not a big deal. Definitely recommend this place!!!

Worth the wait. The wait was looooong but the customer service is great. I have a gluten allergy and they did everything to prevent cross contamination. Changed gloves, separate plate, very nice about it all. I never knew I would be able to enjoy a lobster roll after my diagnosis, so thank you Red's!
