Ever heard the term "sweet trail magic"? its stumbling across something unique while on the trail. Well today its was while rummaging through my papa's old shop I came across some "sweet Shop magic". 33 year old drill press that I know has not been plugged in, in the past 12 years. Dirt dobbers had made a hotel out of it, but it worked when I flipped the switch. Just not sure if it was dust/dirt coming off the motor or smoke. Now comes the fun part of cleaning it up and making it a nice addition to the still in progress shop!

Does anyone have any industry insights on battery tools? I have a decent investment in Porter Cable 18V but i'm looking to add a couple tools and all new stuff is 20V. It appears as though i'm going to have to purchase everything all over again if I want all my tools on the same battery system. Is 20V hear to stay? My fear is that i'll purchase everything then in 2 years the new rage is 25v, etc. Whats your go to for an affordable set of battery powered tools?

I little of what I've been working on the last week. Built a new workbench ( not pictured) and I made this knee high work cart. I also got my compressor mounted up high and re-purposed a hose reel to make a air hose reel. shop is coming together.

Made a simple but solid work bench this weekend. Over half of this was leftover project lumber. The tops are two 8ft x 18 in Lam beams. Glued in the middle. I got those dumpster diving one day in my father in laws neighborhood. first time using a kreg pocket hole jig. fun weekend! I've got enough lam beams left to make a 6ft L table end next.

Anyone heard any rumors about new phones supported by project Fi? Pixel is still too expensive and this 5X has about 6 or 8 more months of life left/ when I run out of patience. Im a big fan of moto.

I'd like to get to the point of feeling confident at building nice furniture. I'm a long ways from getting to that point. The stud and mortar projects i'm good with but the detailed stuff I need to increase my tools, jigs, and patience. I figure building my shop piece by piece will help me acquire some knowledge. This latest project got me real familiar with my table saw and made me realize that I need to put some focus on building jigs and learning more mitering and joining techniques. Fun was still had by all and by all I mean me and my 2yr old son. The shop walls are no longer empty!

My future shop is still a blank canvas after living in the house for 6 months. Most of my inside projects are complete so I get to spend some time organizing and laying out the shop. First up, lumber storage!
