I don't mean sometimes grumpy, but someone who is openly hostile to his users, seems unhappy that they're using his software, and almost goes out of his way to be as rude as possible.
Considering that you might eventually need help from this person if you continue to use their software, is it worth it?
You could use inferior software, knowing that you aren't supporting someone obnoxious, or you could keep using something made by someone you don't like and never want anything to do with.
Worse, is the author's attitude has permeated their user forums, so even if someone else "assists" with a problem, they're just as likely to mock and degrade you as the software's author.
