Cliff House is the place you want to go if you want to impress your date with a gorgeous view overlooking the ocean and rocks down below. The view is amazing and staring off into the vast, infinite ocean is breath taking. The servers here are a little slow when you ask them something and the host was a bit of a pretentious person making some strange comments, but overall the staff was there when you need them. The food was not that bad, but not that great either. There is a pretty high mark-up on the food, possibly because of the location and history of the restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this place to take your significant other on a date that will truly wow them.

This never seems to happen but it's true. A tourist attraction with: A stunning view! Warm, friendly, efficient, like-you're-family service! OUTSTANDING food and beverage made with fresh, local, organic ingredients. City prices but reasonable considering the quality and other terrific attributes. HIGHLY recommended!

The Cliff House is an historic institution in San Fransisco. The views from the windows are amazing. Do note there is more than one restaurant at the Cliff House. We were meeting my brother and his wife there, so they had made reservations at Sutro's. We are not fast food bottom feeders, but the menu and prices were beyond our comfort zone. As my brother said, "If I can't pronounce it or know what it is, I don't eat it." My brother's wife asked if we could move to the Bistro and the waiter said it happens all the time. They were very gracious about it. We still had a window seat at the Bistro with an even better view. Here was a menu we could understand with prices we were more comfortable with. We were late afternoon, so the breakfast menu was still available. I had the sourdough French toast with good. My wife had an omelette. What I tasted was very good. It was a neat place to visit. Be sure to stop by the gift shop.

I love this place for taking friends who're visiting the city. The food is top notch, and the drinks are quite artisan. They take their food and drinks seriously. The whole time you're enjoying your meal you have a beautiful view of the Pacific ocean.

The Cliff House was a beautiful restaurant. It has a variety of delicious foods available, gorgeous views, and so much more. I was addicted to the popovers (I think that's their name) they give while you wait for your food. They are so good! The numerous options allow for anyone to enjoy the restaurant. The place is pretty casual but it is not a cheap meal. If lucky, a child can sometimes receive binoculars to use throughout the meal to look at the view of the water if the waiter offers it to him or her. Overall, the Cliff House is a great, once-in-a-while restaurant.

Buffet brunch was nice to bring my parents from out of town but the selection wasn't great, especially if you're vegetarian. Also the crowd was sort of weird and I saw unattended children touching the food in the buffet which was gross. It was cool to eat in a historic building though and the views are beautiful. We had a very friendly waiter who gave us a lot of info about the history of cliff house and sutro baths. Glad I tried it but probably wouldn't go a second time.

Went to Cliff house (Sutro) for wedding anniversary dinner. Amazing location with the ocean view. The service is excellent and very quick. Waiters are very nice and efficient. The environment is really romantic and beautiful. I loved how there are candles and small flowers on every table. Food is a little bit pricy, but you gotta spend this much on anniversaries and birthdays! The only thing that didn't really impress us was the food. Although the presentation of the food was extraordinary but the taste was a bit of disappointment. Hence, 4 stars. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal because of the environment of the restaurant. Will go again!

Great brunch! The views are almost as good as food. It's hard to tear yourself away from the scenery but you can enjoy it fully after stuffing yourself on the generous brunch. Make sure you don't eat beforehand!
