Perch has gotten busy over the past few years, not without reason. The view over Pershing Square is an inspired spot to have an impressive cocktail selection and small plates. Spread across the top two stories of a building on the corner of Hill and 5th, the top floor is the showstopper - a great place to have a drink with a lover (or perspective one). Favorites are a Writers Block or a French Maid, but really, you can't go wrong. Get there early to avoid the line, which can become unbearable.

Great restaurant! If you like views this place is for you! I went here with a few friends while in town for business and we had a nice meal and drinks on the roof. You can see the entire city from this location.

Perch is a gorgeous rooftop lounge and restaurant. I unfortunately still haven't been to the restaurant portion but have had drinks there along with being at the two bars. There is one lower bar and a higher one on the very top of the venue. Usually, the very top rooftop bar is for private or special parties although on weekdays (other than Fri.), it is open. Drinks are usually around $8-$12 and are fairly strong with some live music depending on the day you go. A great view all-around too. Be aware - you'll have to wait in long lines if you don't come early on the weekends unless you have some special connections in. Parking-wise, look to find street parking or at some private lots nearby (as is common for most DTLA places).

I wanted to write about our traumatizing experience in this restaurant. My friends and I love to dine out at different restaurants in the city, this time we chose your restaurant as also to celebrate my sister's pregnancy. I have never been treated with so much disrespect. We made reservations for six on a Saturday night at 8pm, my friends came in early and 3 of us were running late. Female staff assigned on the ground floor did not want to seat my friends who were there because the party wasn't complete, understood. My friends waited until we arrived at 8:20pm, we went up and the girls at the reception said that they gave away our table, saying it with so much arrogance. We were annoyed at this point. We chose not want to fight or talk back, they told to wait at the bar and once a table has opened up, we will be informed. We didn't want to ruin our night so we waited. 40 minutes later I received a text informing that our table is now ready... One of the male hosts, whom I failed to catch his name (African-American male) led us to our table and so we sat. Two minutes later, he came back and made us stand up, he said that wasn't our table. While, the other group who apparently is assigned on that table we're staring at us. We we're very humiliated! He told us that our table was the one on the far most corner, which is not even a table. It is a sofa, and has a fireplace in the middle and a side table size about 1 foot high! How are we supposed to eat there? He told us in a very condescending tone to accept that table or wait for like 3 hours because we missed our reservations. We left without making a scene because one of us was pregnant and so she needed to eat right away, but we demand an explanation from the male hosts other girls on the reception that was on duty July 13, 2013 between 7pm -9:45pm: 1. Why was our table given away when we were only late for 20 minutes, other people from our party were already there. We looked at other empty reserved tables and asked one of your staff how come other tables were being held for more than one hour? She did not have an answer. 2. My friends were there 30 minutes earlier and other staffs from the ground floor did not let them come up because party was incomplete. Understood, the staff from the ground floor knew that the rest of the party was going to show up, why was our still table given away after 20 minutes? We all saw parties being sat down even though party wasn't complete. Again, your staff did not have an answer. 3. I hope the staffs and management treats everyone the same way, with the same respect they would like given to them. What made them think that we would accept that table which doesn't have an actual table? Did they really think we would eat an $80 meal on our laps or on a table few inches below our laps? We are not desperate individuals. We felt belittled and humiliated by the staffs of Perch. We have had excellent dining experiences in top restaurants, such as restaurants of Chef Batali's Osteria Mozza and Otto, Chef's Jose Andres' the Bazaar and Jaleo, Mastro's, Huntley's Penthouse, and Chef's Ramsey's Rooftop, to name a few. Clearly, the hosts, staffs and management at Perch are not at the same level of professionalism as those fine restaurants. I hope you they will be replaced because not only did the owners lose our business that night, but also our respect.
