...if you need nature and relaxation, look here is a real so wonderful and very interesting fairy-tale castle.

1228 Ashford Castle was founded by the Anglo-Norman de Burgo family following their defeat of the native O'Connors of Connaught. The de Burgos would build several such castles throughout the province, but Ashford in Ireland would remain the principal stronghold.

... my recommendation: The "Lodge of Ashford Castle"
Here you can really relax. A very friendly and helpful staff, the new picnic afternoon tea menu at the Lodge is a treasure trove of tempting treats, everything is super clean, you're really on vacation. No wish remains open, and dogs are also small guests with their own food menu.

Seeing, hiking, dreaming, from Ballycroy to Inishbiggle, the legend of Dobhar Chu and the place of the sunken armada.

The Lake Isle of Innisfree
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core. ...from W.B. YEATS

Inishbiggle: friendly people, an old school, post office, a church a small cafe, and many animals.
Inishbiggle, or Inis Bigil meaning the “Island of Fasting”,
Inishbiggle, is a bastion of traditional life and the tranquil atmosphere, old world customs and glorious scenery are beloved by walkers. Its tiny population speak both Irish and English. For day trippers this is an idyllic island for walking and exploration. The Bullsmouth Channel that separates Inish biggle from Achill Island has one of the strongest currents in Europe, its unpredictable currents during winter months can render the island inaccessible.
