Today is Leo Tolstoy's Birthday. A day to celebrate War and Peace and all things literary. #leotolstoy
Scenes from Leo Tolstoy’s greatest novels including War and Peace and Anna Karenina  come to life on our homepage around the world today. But how do you make a fitting 186th birthday tribute for one of the most revered writers in the world? Guest doodler Roman tried to “evoke the atmosphere of the stories without giving away too much of the narrative or details” and decided on a cartoon style because, “the language of cartooning, likewise, is the language of reduction; it's less descriptive than realistic artwork or film, and is less likely to replace the reader's vision.”  #Behindthedoodle

We are SO excited to unveil our new Health & Science Building to the community!

It houses all LCC healthcare and science programs under a single roof for the first time in our 80-year history. Technology-enabled classrooms and labs, outfitted with the latest in scientific equipment, prepare students for in-demand careers in science, engineering, nursing and other healthcare fields.

There's quite a few sustainable features too.

What do a bunch of middle schoolers do as summer winds down? Catapult to College, that's what! To top off LCC's annual Catapult to College Summer STEM Camp, participants (along with LCC student and staff assistants), took the ALS Ice-Bucket Challenge!

What's STEM, you ask? Science, technology, engineering and math, the building blocks for tomorrow's jobs.

Congratulations all you middle schoolers for filling your brains with STEM knowledge! A special thank you to LCC faculty, staff, students, and Running Start students who made this event a success!

Did you know that US Senator Patty Murray was instrumental in helping LCC receive an EDA grant for equipment in the new Health & Science Building?

She's on campus today and touring the building with President Chris Bailey, LCC Foundation President Bob Gregory, and LCC Chemistry Instructor Adam Wolfer.

All this on top of Chris just returning from the White House where it was announced that LCC is one of 14 outstanding colleges in terms of improving student readiness.

Wow, It's been a BIG WEEK for us! How about you?

July 24 was an exciting day! Local officials, including LCC, were on hand to welcome dignitaries from the Qishuyan District in China, here to scope out Longview as their prospective new sister city. The visit was a 'whirlwind' about town, and included a tour of LCC. Here they are next to our LCC sign on the corner of 15th and Washington Way.

Of note is a plan for a partnership with the nearby Changzhou Technical Institute of Tourism and Commerce. That means more international students may be attending LCC in the near future!
