“Despite the availability of many generics during the past nine years, physicians have continued to prescribe Abbott’s more expensive formulations,” they write. “Which in December 2009 accounted for more than 75 percent of all prescriptions.”

I think physicians need to take some responsibility for this. If a patient demands a brand name drug because of a tv advertisement, physicians should take an extra 5 minutes to explain why this is not necessary.
$700 million per year because of pharmaceutical company shenanigans with just one drug – slightly and meaninglessly changing the dosage to restart the clock on exclusivity.

Why does anyone think this is okay?
