4th Annual Smokin’ Q Classic
 
The Smokin’ Q Classic is an official Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event where teams compete for prize money and the next level of competition.
 
Hosted by the Vista Village Business Association, BBQ teams descend on Historic Downtown Vista on Friday afternoon to spend up to 24 hours seasoning, smoking, and grilling their choice cut of meats for competition day.
 
Judges come from states near and far to find out whose BBQ is the best of the best.

Our 2012 Teams will compete for $10,000 of prize money, KCSB points and trophies.
 
There is something for everyone at the Smokin’ Q Classic! 
BBQ Meat n’ Greet
 Date: Friday, August 3rd
 Time: 5pm – 8pm
 The public is invited on Friday night to a “BBQ Meat n’ Greet“ to meet our teams first hand and see how they cook up their delectable meats for the following day’s competition. BBQ Tastes will not be available until Saturday starting at Noon.
 Featured at the “BBQ Meat n’ Greet” is a local business sidewalk sale and kid’s carnival.
BBQ Competition and Tasting -
Date: Saturday, August 4th
 Time: 12pm – 4pm
Featured at the Smokin’ Q Classic are 2 oz BBQ Tastes for purchase, a street fair, kid’s carnival, live entertainment, a refreshing beer garden, and the First Annual Blazin’ Bike Show.

Smoked Armadillo Eggs - Stuffed Jalapenos wrapped in chorizo and smoked for two hours. Easy to make - delicious to eat!

Introduction
I started the Competition BBQ Team - Meat, Inc. - in 2005.  Since I started we have increased the number of BBQ Competitions we do each year along with rising in KCBS National Ranking.
 
In 2008 I started Big Daddy Black BBQ Catering after being prompted by friends, family, and fans of my BBQ.  You can read about some of the events we have catered on the BDB BBQ blog.
 
I am also a food blogger.  I write instructive recipes that are easy to follow and can be used on smokers, BBQ's, grills, and even in your oven.  You can find these on the Meat, Inc. blog.  I try and put up a few recipes per month. 
 
I also review and test all types of sauces, dry rubs, cooking tools and products and grills, BBQ's and smokers to help people find the best stuff out there.
 
In a past life I was also a Pro-Brewer and Submarine Sonar Tech (STS2/SS).
 
I am always learning and passionate about passing on the knowledge I've learned with anyone who wants to share!
