Tyger: Beast of the forest, swift as an arrow in flight.

Can be stymied by showing it its reflection in a mirror.

So, I've been out of the loop for a while so am not aware of whether you folks have already found this marvelous set of tools for the investigation of Borges' hypothetical universe. It is searchable in a number of ways and contains, as a bonus, a universal image archive;

" It contains every image that ever has been or could be created with this color palette in these dimensions, including portraits of every person who ever lived at every moment in their life, digitized versions of every work of art ever created, even those lost to history, as well as every work of art which ever could be created, and photographs of your own birth, wedding, and funeral. It contains 4096^266240 (~10^961755) unique images."

I checked. They are all there. To put it in perspective there are 10^80 atoms in the known universe.

A fairly large post in which I list all the different types of historical body armour I could find. It turns out there are more than several.

I owe Joesky Tax on this one and on several others. Does Joesky ever turn up collect? Is it possible that by thwarting his edicts we might be able to flush him out from wherever he has gone to ground?

This is a follow up to the previous post in which I discuss why history is awesome and why all the cool kids are totes into history. +Patrick Stuart is egregiously misrepresented for effect.

This was inspired by +Patrick Stuart 's recent discussion of filmed violence. It doesn't address all of the many excellent points made in that post but does talk a bit about the role of armour.

I like level drain. In my mind the closest thing to level drain is PTSD. While sufferers may be able to recall their previous confidence and ability to function there is something else intruding into their consciousness that prevents them from being able to function the way they were able to previously.

Being touched by the dead means being forced to share some of the experience of being dead.

This is, of course, not all that this post is about, it is mostly about other things.

This grew out of something I read that described a superstition that teeth are in some way the property of rats. Also I like the idea that humans are monsters. Dr. McGrogan, in his long ago epic rpg.net thread that drew me into the OSR rabbit-hole in late 2008, expressed a desire for aa all-human monster manual. This is partly a response to that.

There is also an extent to which I have little control over what the fingers that type the things are going to type.
