DUBLIN, Ga. — The Savannah State University National Alumni Association Dublin-Laurens Chapter held its 28th annual Scholarship Banquet on April 16. The afternoon banquet was held in the fellowship hall of the Washington Street Presbyterian Church. Dr. Cheryl D. Dozier, the president of Savannah State University, was the guest speaker and the Twiggs County High School Jazz Ensemble provided musical entertainment for the event. The highlight of the afternoon was the awarding of the 2016 Scholarship to Donovan Timmons, a Senior at Dublin High School.

The Savannah State University National Alumni Associations Southern Region Conference, hosted by the Huntsville Alabama Chapter, will take place on March 4-5 at the Huntsville Marriott (5 Tranquility Base, Huntsville, Ala.). This comprehensive two-day event is filled with interactive panel sessions designed to educate alum on current SSU happenings, as well as re-energize your “Tiger Pride.”

Savannah State University is seeking suggestions for a 125th Anniversary Celebration theme that represents the rich history of Savannah State and legacy of founder Richard R. Wright, Sr. All SSU students, faculty, staff and alumni are asked to participate and help develop the theme which will become the brand of the 2015 celebration programming and will be represented in all promotional materials.

Entries must be submitted to the planning committee by 5 pm on August 28. Four to seven finalists will be selected, and the planning committee will announce the winner on September 1. The author of the winning entry will receive a $100 Visa gift card. Entries should be emailed to Aaiesha Reeves at aiesha.reeves@savannahstate.edu.
