Wow, I haven't been here for a while. How long ago did it change?

Though, granted, I haven't really been anywhere lately. :S

Blog Update!

Here I posted about my article featured in the latest issue of the Ctrl.Alt.Defeat e-zine, used that news to talk briefly about my thoughts about my Living The Life story, and then after that I explain (vaguely) why the blog has been so quiet lately. It's nothing special, in other words, but it does cover some important stuff.

While my own experience is, of course, different, this article really sums up my own thoughts regarding one of my favourite websites on the Internet. It's good to see someone giving the site some of the recognition that it deserves.

The Nurburgring Nordschleife is already the most gruelling, challenging and intense circuit to drive on in the world. Being the longest circuit in the world and featuring 154 corners (even more if you include the GP circuit which Formula 1 uses -- which this video does), not to mention passing through three German villages, how could it not be?

But, if you think that's hard, try driving around the circuit on snow. Not only would it be incredibly fun, your heart would be in your mouth the entire time. See this video for proof.

Also, slight side-note: this video reminds me of Project Gotham Racing 4 and a challenge in which you had to drive around the Nordschleife on, yep you guessed it, snow. It remains to this day one of my most cherished gaming memories. Make of that what you will.

If there is one thing that 2012 has confirmed to me thus far, it is that I am completely out of touch when it comes to the gaming world these days.

That and the year is apparently the year of the bandwagon, but alas.

A complete waste of time, a productive experience, or something in between? Over at Pioneer Project, +Michelle Baldwin counters the misguided conceit that video gaming is a counter-productive hobby.

Pixel Hunt is an e-zine made with love and dedication by a stack of awesome Australian games writers (sometimes including me but not this time). It's been going for some time with free pdf releases of each issue, but now you can finally buy a print version (which comes with a free pdf, too) for a very low price. You should totally support this so that in the future they can start paying us writers.
