I'm quite wordy, so my posts are usually very long. While this can be a problem for a company/product blog, it isn't necessarily an issue with personal blogs that have the additional goal to attract people who like to read. In this context, you don't need to make your sentences as short as possible, because one of the reason that people read you is that they like your writing style or the abundance of details or the way you add related thoughts and personal opinions.
The point is: if your opinions are unique and have value, people will enjoy any single time you'll surprise them with an unexpected thought, even if technically superfluous.
Further, if your writing style is enjoyable, people will read your articles not just for extracting the main information but also because it is a pleasure to read you.Jun 25, 2013
True. I can think of exceptions to several of the points I made, but I think those apply to the minority of cases.
For good writers, like yourself, there are no rules, but for the rest of us, it helps to keep certain things in mind. I've seen plenty of blog posts where I just want the writer to get to the point.
You're highly technical, and having that kind of insight adds value.Jun 25, 2013
