Hubble's law wouldn't hold in this case, because all objects would be receding at the same rate, regardless of distance.

The Legend of Zelda was far from the first game to allow you to save your progress. It may have been the first console game to allow it, but it was possible to save progress on some computers games as early as the Apple II; and high scores (the only "progress" a lot of games had in the early days) were persistent on most computer games as early as the Commodore 64/TRS-80 era (arcade machines typically had no writable non-volatile storage, to keep costs down).

It isn't necessarily true that the crosswalk buttons do "nothing". At most of the intersections here in Tucson, the walk/don't walk signal doesn't change along wth the traffic signal if you don't push the button (by default, they just say "DON'T WALK in all directions). The button doesn't actually change the timing of the traffic signal, though; it merely tells it to also change the pedestrian signals when the time comes.

There are, however, a few traffic signals in town that are actually controlled by sensors instead of (or, rather; in conjunction with) timers; these signals (typically located at intersections with extremely disproportionate traffic flow) won't change unless they get a signal from a sensor. At these intersections, the crosswalk buttons will actually trigger the light to change; but that's only because it's necessary.

The view off my balcony in Tucson, AZ right now. Yes that's snow.

Cue the global warming deniers.

Today it was pretty chilly, and it's supposed to be barely above freezing and foggy in the morning. Usually our lows are around 40-50f (5-10c) and highs are probably in the 60s (~15-20c) this time of year.

There is no way that tiny moon would exert significant tidal forces; it has insufficient mass.

It's a kit. Who needs a multi-part video series to put together a kit?

The Programmer's Prayer:

Our OS who art in CPU, UNIX be thy name. Thy programs run, thy syscalls done, in kernel as it is in user.
Give us this day our daily /var/spool/mail, and forgive us our segfaults, as we forgive those who segfault against us.
Lead us not into /dev/null, but deliver us from DOS, for thine is the userland, and the source code, and the / forever and ever.

    Amen.

Anyone remember ZX Spectrum and JetPack? Wasted a lot of time on that back in '84...
