Brooklyn Coat by Tessuti
The Brooklyn Coat pattern was released by Tessuti a few weeks ago. Like the Sydney Coat it's intended to be sewn with a boiled wool, leaving the seams exposed. I saw a sample of the coat in-store before it was released and got to try it in. I really REALLY ...

Simple scarf making
I recently picked up two smallish pieces of silk at various sewists meet ups.  Both were too small for a garment (also I don't really wear woven garments so not great loss), but perfectly sized for scarves. I wear scarves every day when the weather is coole...

Our Fave Top #3
This is my third version of Tessuti's "Our Fave Top" and I don't think it will be my last. I love the way I can be VERY lazy with this top and finish the it with a rolled-hem on the overlocker. The top looks great with textured or wrinkly fabric - like this...

Black Megan Longline Cardigan
My wearable muslin of Tessuti's Megan Longline Cardigan has turned out to be one of my most worn me-mades. The fit is great, it's comfortable, the fabric, whilst super cheap, is a great colour and washes and wears so well. Needless to say I was super keen t...

Me Made May 2016
I've decided to take plunge and join Me Made May again this year. I, Melanie from made-by-melanie.blogspot.com and @whatpiggydeos, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '16. I endeavour to wear two me-made garments each week during May 2016 (one more than...

Megan Longline Cardigan
When I was in Tessuti's Chatswood store last week I tried on a Megan Longline Cardigan sample that they had made up.  I love seeing sewing patterns made up especially if it "sort of fits" and I can try it on. It helps me decide if the pattern will work for ...

Our Fave Top #4
Here we go again! Another "Our Fave Top" by Tessuti patterns made in the same fabric as my most recent make , but bought whilst in Melbourne last year. I think the fabric is from Rathdowne Fabrics but I cannot quite remember now? My rolled hem didn't prod...

Little leather clutch
About this time last year I bought this little leather remnant from The Fabric Store with the hopes of making a bag to take along to Melbourne Frocktails. If I couldn't make a dress successfully at least the bag would be made by me. Nope...things didn't qui...

Seanwork Mesa Dress = fail
I'm still on the hunt for a go-to dress pattern and I'm sad to say that the Seamwork Mesa Dress is not it. I think it's more my body's fault rather than the dress, but I'm still a tad disappointed. There's no photos of me in the dress as I don't need those ...

I had initially ear-marked this fabric to go in the "swap" pile for our recent Sydney Spoolettes fabric swap as I knew I would never make a dress out of it as organically planned (woven dress + me = no thank you). Now that I've been sewing for a few years I...

"Our Fave Top" by Tessuti
How great is this fabric that I picked up from The Fabric Muse during one of my lunch breaks. Rhetorical question as it's obviously fantastic! The print is so pretty and the fabric (polyester/spandex) feels so nice. I initially bought 90cm for another Maria...

The journey of a girl...her stomach and her sewing machine.
Introduction
My "adventures" run to admin assistant by day, struggling cook (and novice seamstress) by night. I need to eat out to ensure I don't starve. I love catching up with friends over something yummy. Cheap and cheerful are my favourite places to eat, but I don't mind fancy schmancy every now and then. Sometimes I try to cook, but it mostly never ends well (though I am getting better in the kitchen even if I do say so myself)! I'm a foodie blog addict...not that I read them at work of course.

Trying my hardest to be an ethical eater. Learning to sew, enjoy growing edibles on my small balcony and I foster kittens for Cat Protection Society.

Live in Sydney's wild wild west.
